We would like to invite all families to learn more about the 3rd grade Reading Bill and its implications at Coolidge. We will host a meeting on Tuesday, February 4th at 7:00pm (PTA Meeting) to share the law and what this means for this year's third grade students and those that come after them. Please join us in the library at 7:00pm.
Kindergarten registration begins Monday, February 3rd.
We are excited to announce that Kindergarten Registration for the 2020-2021 school year will begin on Monday, February 3! If you, or someone you know, have an incoming kindergartner who will be five years old by Sept. 1, 2020, please see and share the following information.

STUDENT ASSESSMENT DATA
This Friday be on the lookout for various student assessment reports that will be coming home.
Reading Proficiency Report: As applicable, this report will identify your student's current Fountas & Pinnell reading level and their overall iReady reading proficiency level. In addition, this report will establish your child's Individual Reading Improvement Plan (IRIP) status for our next Intervention Window that starts next week. If students do not meet the grade level criteria for BOTH the Fountas & Pinnell reading level and iReady proficiency level they will qualify for an IRIP (see below) during Intervention Window 2.
Math i-READY Parent Report: This report will visually show you your child's results on our latest round of i-Ready math testing.
Individual Reading Improvement Plan (IRIP) Window 1: If your child had an IRIP during our first intervention window, a copy will be sent home which will detail reading growth your child has made this year.
Individual Reading Improvement Plan (IRIP) Window 2: If your child qualifies for an IRIP during our second intervention window per the reading proficiency report, two copies will be sent home which will detail your child's upcoming reading goals and their read at home plan. A signed copy needs to be returned to school.
As a reminder, to address this mid-year academic data, every classroom will continue to have a designated period of each day devoted to providing additional supports to struggling learners and enrichment/extension activities for children who are scoring at or above grade level on their assessments. We will also count on you for a home plan to help your child be successful with their grade level expectations. This Third Grade Reading link contains many informational documents from Wayne County RESA, which highlights the third grade-reading bill and the importance of early literacy. Thank you for being an active partner in your child's education.
