Heritage Primary Eblast
NOVEMBER 2018
Principal's Message
Happy November!
We hope that everyone has enjoyed a wonderful October and had a safe Halloween, for those who went out trick or treating. We also want to thank each of you for meeting with us at parent-teacher conferences. This past month brought about a multitude of fun activities. One of the major highlights of the month was our Walk-a-Thon celebration. Below you will find some of our favorite pictures to remember the day. I think we are still getting whip cream out of our eyes, ears, and hair!
Our character word this month is Responsible. The definition we use at Heritage is being in charge of your actions and choices. We encourage you to continue talking with your child(ren) about what that looks like at home, as we discuss and teach what it looks like at school. A few ways to work on this at home may be:
- Packing their own backpack
- Helping clean up after dinner
- Being sure to return their library books
- Taking out or helping collect the trash at home
They may need some assistance in doing so, but it's the little opportunities like these which support positive and productive character development. Finally, please remember how important it is for our kids to be reading at home. We encourage you to have them read for 20 minutes a night. This could be on their own, to a sibling or to you--every little bit counts towards fostering a love of reading. We look forward to continuing our work together. And with this being a time of the year where we stop and reflect on our gratitude, know how grateful we feel to work with you and your child(ren) each and every day, have a great month!

COACHES CORNER
We are working on shoe tying in PE!! The students can earn a charm for their book bags and a spot on our Shoe Tie Wall of fame in the gym! Please feel free to use the method you are comfortable with, but we use the following method which has been very successful for all of our kiddos!
ALSO, Please remember to have your children wear proper shoes for PE! We love tennis shoes, which are the safest for all of our activities... If your child comes to PE without the proper shoes they will not be able to participate in the day's activities and will be given an alternate assignment.
Thanks so much for all of your help and support!

Visitor Cafe Guidelines
Parents and family members are welcome to visit their child at school during their lunch time. We do have limited space since we have a large population of students and ask to keep your group to a minimum when visiting. While you are visiting, please follow our HPE Visitor Cafe' Guidelines:
- You must have a visitor's badge issued prior to meeting your child in the cafe'.
- Only one friend is allowed to eat with your child in the commons area per visit.
- You may only bring food for your student. Please do not share with friends.
- Students need to return to the classroom when their classroom lunch period is over.
- All siblings are asked to remain seated and supervised at all times.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us provide a safe and special opportunity to visit with our child. If these guidelines are not abided by, these privileges may be revoked at any time.
