Leader in Me
Our youngest learners are being prompted to use the image of a stoplight to:
- Red- Stop
- Yellow-Think
- Green- Make a good choice
Children also benefit from role-playing situations that may come up to help guide them in appropriate responses.
Arrival and Dismissal Updates
- When dropping off or picking up your child from the Kiss & Ride Loop, please drive with caution as there are children exiting their vehicles. Please do not cross the Kiss & Ride lanes during this time. We kindly ask that you park your vehicle and use the outer sidewalk if you are walking your child to the door.
- All students line up at their grade level pillar. Our staff has made the decision to allow our oldest students in the building first, as this allows patrols to get to their posts and also to assist our youngest students to class. Additionally, staff members can collect our youngest students and escort them to class. We are happy to say we are all entering the building within three minutes! Thank you for your patience. I know the first few days were an adjustment to getting into a routine.
Dismissal
- At the end of the day, we ask that parents wait on the outside of the cones in the front of the building or establish a meeting spot with their children. This allows our car riders and bus riders to use the area inside the cones to safely make their way to their destination.
Emergency Form and Annual Notice for Directory
1. If there are no changes/mistakes, please recycle the paper.
2. If there are some changes to be made, please go on your ParentVue account, and make them.
3. If you are unable to make the changes online, please make the edits on the form legibly and return it to school.
No Place for Hate
Rachel Carson will once again participate in the No Place for Hate initiative, sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League. The initiative focuses on school climate improvement with an organizing framework for combating bias, bullying and hatred, leading to long-term solutions for creating and maintaining a positive and equitable climate.
There is a strong alignment between No Place for Hate and the RCES Mission Statement. As reflected in the mission, we will achieve success when "relationship building includes ALL members of the community" and we "employ equitable practices to engage diverse learners." Schools achieve No Place for Hate designation by “building inclusive and safe communities in which respect and equity are the goals and where all students can thrive.”
Throughout the year students will be completing three activities that will enhance students' understanding of diversity, bias, social justice and inclusion and which also will foster equity and harmony in our school community. We are looking forward to partnering with you again this year to make Rachel Carson No Place for Hate!
