Please give us feedback on Virtual Learning
Good Afternoon Mountain View Families,
Now that school is well underway, we'd like to hear from you about what is working and what can be improved at Mountain View. We acknowledge that virtual school isn't perfect but we are all trying our best! We know you have been communicating with your child's teacher(s) -- and they share with us -- but this is another opportunity for families to communicate directly with school administrators.
It’s Hispanic Heritage Month!
This week you might see that your students have changed their profile pictures to images of artwork they made in art class during the week of 9/21-9/25. Their artwork was inspired by the Mexican folk art of Amate Bark Painting (grades K,1, 3) and artist Romero Britto (grades 2,4,5). We hope their artwork will create unity in a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. --Bill Westen & Marcie Canine
Food for Thought!
During this pandemic, the topic of communication has been a constant in our Mountain View teachers and staff’s minds. We are deeply committed to provide our students with the best education possible. Virtual teaching has changed the way we deliver instruction and it requires a closer partnership between parents and teachers. The way we communicate sometimes affect the results of what we try to resolve in the first place. The balance is in how we share with each other in order to keep the lines of communication productive.
Some tips to facilitate positive and productive parent-teacher communication are:
Trust the experts- Teachers are professionals in their field. What they do is not always obvious but it is purposeful. They will be happy to share their thoughts with you,
Communicate quickly with your teacher- If you perceive changes in your child behavior, they share something unusual or you have questions about school work.
Give grace and kindness- Communicate depending on the severity of the situation, a quick short message could be done through an email or text. Something more complicated may require a phone call. A subject that involves lots of emotion may be best done via Zoom meeting or in person (when we come back.)
