Summer Homer Highlights 2023

Hello Trojan Families!

HAPPY SUMMER TROJAN FAMILIES,

Today is our last day of the 2022-2023 school! We will dismiss at 11:00 a.m. Thank you for helping make this year a fantastic one! We are so proud of all that our students have accomplished. Congratulations to our seniors on graduation and everyone else on making it through another successful year.

Please take some time to enjoy the summer and encourage your child to read every day! Create a summer routine and take advantage of some of the fun activities here in Homer such as the GAP events and the events at the Homer Public Library.

We wish you all an amazing summer and look forward to seeing you back in the fall for the 2023/2024 school year!

We have a few things to share with you for the summer so see below for more Homer Highlights!

Summer Band Information

Trojan Band Summer Happenings

For the Middle School (mostly)... There is a summer band program throughout the month of June. Hour long practice sessions are on Monday and Tuesday mornings. Times vary depending on your child’s ability and they may attend more than one session. Recitals (optional) are on Wednesdays at noon (tentatively). Students are free to come to just a few sessions, or may attend all of them, depending on family circumstances. The schedule is below. I will help determine which session will benefit them the most.

Beginner level - 9:00 AM (6th grade)

Intermediate level - 10:00 AM (advanced 6th grade, 7th grade)

Advanced level- 11:00 AM (advanced 7th grade, 8th grade)

For the HIgh School… Anyone participating in HS Band for 2023-24 needs to attend Marching Band Camp. It is held here in Homer and there is no cost involved. The band will spend 24 hours learning music and marching routines for the fall football season. Cheering for the team alongside our wonderful cheerleaders, and performing shows for this great community during pre-game is a good time that I always look forward to. It starts with a bit of work. Camp starts on July 31st and runs from 9:00-12:00 PM and 1:00 to 4:00 PM. It concludes with the Homer is Home parade on August 5th (Friday, Aug 4th is a day rest!). I am (as always) very excited to see where our amazing band program goes from here. Our future looks very bright!
