Young scientist at work!
WOW!
Picking up an ice cube with just a STRING!
Hello, Families!
We had a wonderful week in second grade! The students are VERY excited for our field trip next week (Friday, Oct. 23)!
Please ask your child:
Math:
- Tell me about your math test. How do you think you did?
- Mrs. LaCrosse will be working with groups of students next week to work on difficult problems. What do you think she may work on with you?
Reading:
- What books are you currently reading?
- What book(s) did you read in guided reading? What have you learned?
- You began learning about nonfiction texts. What 3 types did you learn about (biography, literary nonfiction, and reference)? When would you use each type of book?
- What are some text features you can expect to find in nonfiction texts?
- Tell me about previewing, skimming, and scanning a text.
Writing:
- What piece of writing did you publish?
- How is a narrative special?
Science:
- What is the scientific method? What are the steps?
- Tell me about the soda water and popcorn kernel experiment. What did you learn? Tell me about the role of the bubbles from the soda water.
- How were you able to pick up a piece of ice with just a string?
Other:
- What was the best part of your week?
- Is there anything you would like to be different next week? What can you do to make that happen?
Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with me. Have a lovely weekend!
