Affirmations of the Week
I always model positive behaviors so that students learn from my example.
I build strong relationships with students every day because I stay mindful of my purpose and my power.
"Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be." Rita Pierson
I'm SURE you've seen the video below, but it's inspiring no matter how many times you've seen it. Watch it once more, reflecting on how we can build relationships with our students and be the champions they so desperately need us to be.

Progress Reports
Progress reports will be sent home this week. A cover sheet and progress report for each student will be printed for you. Before Monday, make sure that you have updated Mastery Connect with at least 8 grades in your tracker. Mr. Zimmerman will export grades. You will just need to write the letter grade at the top of the progress report. You will also receive a sign-in sheet for students. Please have all students sign that they have received the progress report. Students should get the progress report signed and return it to school. Please work with your grade level team to determine how you can use Live School or other strategies to incentivize returning the signed progress report.
Culture Reset
In light of missed days due to inclement weather, our Culture Reset continues this week.
Remember that the purpose of this reset is to maximize instructional time.
As we raise expectations for students, we will also hold ourselves accountable for high expectations for instruction and communication. Remember to maintain
- High expectations for multi-sensory engagement throughout the lesson. Look for feedback regarding the level of engagement in your lesson plans this week. The first four people to email me one multi-sensory engagement activity from your lessons this week will win a prize.
- Increased efforts to maintain calm and balanced communication with students
- Increased opportunities to earn rewards, Live School points, etc. throughout the entire class period, transitions, etc.
- Remember that once you remove a student from your classroom, you have given power over the situation away, so make every effort to use progressive discipline strategies, positive reinforcement, redirection, private one-on-one conversations, etc., to manage your classroom.
