ADMINISTRATION UPDATE
Dear CCS Families,
We wish to extend sincere appreciation for the communication and support CCS has received throughout the week in response to Monday’s lockout procedure. We have been able to respond directly to family inquiries and concerns throughout the week. This type of dialogue is important to all of us at CCS - it allows us to continue to build and strengthen school-family relationships and to reflect upon our safety procedures to ensure that they are supportive of all children and adults.
One reflection we have had is that our families with older students have a greater awareness of the types of safety measures enacted at CCS and how those measures are practiced, implemented and communicated. Over the next few weeks, we will be creating a Frequently Asked Questions information document to share out with families to offer greater clarity regarding our school safety procedures. This will be shared in an upcoming newsletter and will help us to develop an additional component for our Family Handbook next year.
We encourage families to always feel comfortable reaching out to us with your concerns and your feedback. We value the opportunity to connect with the families of our students and to build home-school relationships that best serve our students’ safety and learning. Outside of communicating with us directly, there are opportunities through our monthly Q & A with the Principals meetings which are sponsored by our CCS PTO. The next two Q & A dates and times are:
Wednesday, February 21 from 2:00 - 2:30 p.m. in the Main Office Conference Room
Friday, March 16 from 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. in the Main Office Conference Room
We’re wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Stephanie, Jen and Cassandra

PTO VARIETY SHOW
It's time for the 2018 CCS Variety Show!!!
Do you tap dance or sing? Have you written a poem you'd like to share? Can you get yourself out of your snowsuit using only your teeth and a banana peel?
Whatever your talents are, we don't want you to hide your light under a bushel. Share them with your schoolmates and the community by participating in the annual CCS PTO Variety Show, where we welcome students to perform a skit, play the violin, burp the alphabet, whatever! Group performances are welcome. Two rules: have fun, and no lip-synch routines.
Get working on those acts now; sign up by sending an email letting us know the details of your act and who's participating (names and grades). Acts are limited to three minutes each.
To sign up, send info to Chea Evans at cheaevans@gmail.com and Katie Taylor at katiertaylor@gmail.com.
Rehearsals will be held in the MPR Jan 29, Jan 31, and Feb 2, from 3-4:30, and Feb 6 from 2-3:30 and Feb 8. from 3-4:30.
To sign kids up to participate in the adorable kindergarten song, email Nancy Warren Farley at nancyrwarren@gmail.com.

GIRLS ON THE RUN
FAQ:
What roles are available for volunteer coaches?
All Head and Assistant Coaches support the team by facilitating sessions. Running Buddies or general volunteers are individuals that run/walk with the girls but do not facilitate the program. Each team needs at least two head or assistant coaches for a group of up to 15 girls. Click here for more info: http://gotrvt.org/becoming-a-coach/
I'm not a runner - can I still coach?
Absolutely! Anyone that wants to nurture and teach our 3rd-6th grade girls to be joyful, confident and healthy can coach! Men and women alike! GOTR is way more than a running program. We inspire greatness and teach self confidence through a researched based curriculum, and creatively integrate running into the sessions so that girls and coaches can participate in a non-competitive 5k event at the end of the season. Learn more about the benefits of our program here: http://gotrvt.org/our-impact/
I've never facilitated a program like this? What support will I receive?
GOTRVT hosts an in-person coach training to prepare all coaches to deliver the program! This coach training event is of no cost to coaches and is a fun and interactive event to get us all excited about the upcoming season and answers all of your questions. All materials for the season are provided to coaches, including a curriculum book, water bottles and t-shirts for the coaches and girls.
When is coach training?
Training will be held on Sunday, February 11th at the Champlain Valley Expo in Essex, VT from 9a-2p. GOTRVT wants each coach trained so please register to coach in time for training! Register now: https://www.raceplanner.com/volunteer/signup/coach-2018
When does the season start for the girls?
Our season starts the week of March 19th. Sessions are held twice a week after school for 90 minutes each, for 10 weeks. The season culminates with the 5k event on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the Champlain Valley Expo.
Sounds fantastic but I still have some questions...who can I contact for more information?
Please contact Rachel Desautels, Program Manager, at 802-871-5664 or by email at Rachel@girlsontherunvermont.org. Check us out at www.gotrvt.org too!
