People on the Inside
Finland
Kim worked hard to raise the $10,000 it took to join the exchange student program. She did bake sales, won scholarships and asked for donations. She wanted to see the world and traveled from Oklahoma to Finland.
South Korea
Eric made the trek from Minnesota to South Korea. Once he arrived, he learned that South Korean students were very different than he. They went to school from 8 am to 9 pm. They also had tutoring until 11 pm. They often fell asleep in class. They competed with other South Korean students to get into elite colleges.
Poland
Tom journeyed from Pennsylvania to Poland where he found school to be much different. Grades w(ere called out in front of the entire class, so everyone knew what everyone else made on tests, papers, and other assignments. He also learned that Poland (and other countries) studies math objectives less time than America, yet out-tested Americans on international tests.
