Story: How Leopard Got His Spots

Skills this week:

  • reading words with ch and tch at the beginning and ending (chick, catch)
  • homophones : words that sound the same but are spelled differently (tail, tale)
  • Sequencing events in a story
  • Proper nouns and common nouns

The students will have a spelling and sight word test this week on Friday. This week the students will use all 12 words to fill in blanks in sentences.

This week we will continue addition to 20 using various strategies. We will 'count on', use a number line and review fact families. A fact family is 3 numbers that can be used to write 2 addition sentences and 2 subtraction sentences.

Ex. (2, 3, 5) 2 + 3 = 5 ; 3 + 2 = 5; 5 - 2 =3;

5 - 3 = 2.


This week we will continue our science unit on force and motion. We will work on the position of objects and forces that push and pull.

- Find your child's spelling list (yellow or green) according the color of the list in his/her spelling notebook.
