Reading
Story: How Leopard Got His Spots
Skills this week:
- reading words with ch and tch at the beginning and ending (chick, catch)
- homophones : words that sound the same but are spelled differently (tail, tale)
- Sequencing events in a story
- Proper nouns and common nouns
The students will have a spelling and sight word test this week on Friday. This week the students will use all 12 words to fill in blanks in sentences.

Math
This week we will continue addition to 20 using various strategies. We will 'count on', use a number line and review fact families. A fact family is 3 numbers that can be used to write 2 addition sentences and 2 subtraction sentences.
Ex. (2, 3, 5) 2 + 3 = 5 ; 3 + 2 = 5; 5 - 2 =3;
5 - 3 = 2.
Science
This week we will continue our science unit on force and motion. We will work on the position of objects and forces that push and pull.
Homework
Mon. - math sheet ; practice spelling words
Tues. - math sheet ; practice spelling words
Thurs. - sight word sentence practice sheet; practice spelling words
Fri. - reading response journal is due back.
