Extra Learning Opportunity for Annotated Bibliography

Have you started working on your research project? Here are Parts 1 and 2 of a four-part Extra Learning Opportunity that will help you get started on the project and earn some credit for the work at the same time!

ELO for Research Preparation: Part 1

ELO for Research Preparation: Part 2

Turn the work in to the Bibliography dropbox in the Extra Learning Opportunities folder. Part 2 is due no later than Sunday, March 20. If you have not done Part 1, you may do it as well and turn it in by March 20.

This ELO, along with the other two parts that will be released over the next few weeks, can help you earn up to 10% to be added to your Annotated Bibliography grade. In addition, you will get a good head start on the project AND get feedback from me to help shape your final product. It's a Win-Win!

Extra Learning Opportunity to Add Points to Your Multiple Choice Test Score

Shmoop, a tutorial and study aid website to which every GaVS student gains access through our school subscription, provides excellent resources for preparing for the AP exam. In addition, it can help you prepare for the multiple choice practice tests and exam for this course.

To use the Shmoop resources (and incidentally earn some extra credit), create an account if you do not already have one. Then make sure to use the GaVS magic word and the appropriate classroom code to join my classroom.

1. Go here: http://www.shmoop.com/signup/georgia-virtual

2. Create a free Shmoop account or log in if you already have one. Use your GaVS email to automatically gain access to our school subscription services.

3. Enter this Magic Word on the sign-up page: LANIER

4. Join our class using the following code: f44ee

5. Take the diagnostic, read the material, work through exercises, etc. The more you do, the more Shmoints you earn! These will later translate into extra points added to your Multiple Choice Test #2.

Revision Opportunity

One of the most valuable ways to grow as a writer is to revise and improve your essays. I am offering you the opportunity to revise one of your essays, taking into account the feedback I have provided in GradeMark. You can earn up to 10% added to your grade for effective revision. Put the revised essay in the dropbox with the original essay; just be sure to label it "REVISION." If you have any questions, I would be glad to discuss your revision with you. The revision needs to be submitted by Monday, April 11.

Extra Learning Opportunity: Replace an Essay Grade

For those of you who would like the opportunity to replace an essay grade or who would like more practice with the kinds of essays on the AP exam, I have two potential opportunities for you.

1. AP-Style Essay Assignment (to be completed and placed in a dropbox)

2. AP-Style Timed Essay (to be completed in a quiz)

I will post more information about these two options within the next week. Watch the announcements! After I have posted it in an announcement, I will also post full information in the User Links widget.

Each of these essays can be used to replace the grade of another essay in the course.

Stay tuned for more information!
