Walk-a-thon
Thank you to the H.S.A. for putting together such a great culminating event for our school fundraiser! Thank you to all the families that supported the Walk-a-thon through donations and/or volunteering their time.
In addition to fundraising, the Walk-a-thon provides students a chance to celebrate the importance of community.
On Friday, students were given their "Knowledge is Our Superpower" t-shirt. Our school was full of NPS Magic! Each unit had 20 minutes on the field to walk and celebrate our community. Spiderman even stopped by to cheer them on!
Cultural Arts Residency for the Intermediate Unit
This week, we will begin our Intermediate Cultural Arts residency program with tile artist, Kathy Casper.
Over the next 2 weeks, Intermediate students will meet to design a tile mosaic inspired by our school-wide theme.

SNAP
During gym class this month, Intermediate students will participate in the Special Needs Awareness/Athletic Program (SNAP), which allows kids to learn first-hand what life may be like for a child perceived as “different”.
With the assistance from 5th grade SNAP Ambassadors, they will complete four stations designed to simulate the physical or intellectual challenges of a few common disabilities (during one gym class).
At its core, this program is simply about reaching out, especially when they see another person struggling with a task or being excluded by his or her peers. SNAP is helping students understand why its’s important to advocate for a child who needs a hand. SNAP’s motto, “Making Kindness Cool,” acknowledges that while it is not always easy for kids to step outside of a comfort zone, to resist bullying or befriend a “different” child, it is the right step.
