Student Led Conferences
Dear BHMS Families,
Student-Led Conferences are around the corner. Teachers will all be in their classrooms from 5:30-8:00 on Oct. 19, 24 and 26.. The focus of the student-led conferences is to allow your child to demonstrate his/her scholastic accomplishments. As a family member, you can provide encouragement and help your student set goals for the remainder of the year.
Our goals for this conference format are:
To help families understand what is taking place in the classroom
To communicate about student learning
To help students accept ownership for learning and behavior
To support students in enhancing organizational and leadership skills
To assist students in building self-esteem and self-confidence
Each conference will last approximately 10 minutes and we encourage students and family members to visit as many teachers as they would like, in each teacher’s classroom. There will be numerous student-led conferences taking place at one time within each classroom. We invite you to begin student-led conferencing in any of your child’s teachers’ classrooms, when there is an open space. Throughout this process there will be opportunities to have brief conversations with teachers and your child.
We look forward to working with you and your student!
Sincerely,
BHMS Administration and Teachers

A HUGE thank you to everyone who was able to donate to our Reach for the Heights Fundraiser. We raised just over $10,000. If you haven't had a chance you can still send in checks or donate online. Next week we will be drawing the names of three lucky students who will get to shave Mr. VanIwarden and Mr. McDonald's heads and dye Mrs. Figurin's hair. Thanks again for all that you do for the BHMS community!!!

From Student Council
It is time once again for the Share-A-Coat program for us to collect coats to support the Boulder Valley Rotary Club. We appreciate all the efforts in past years of you, your staff and students in this worthwhile endeavor and look forward to working with you again this year. In 2016, over 2,000 coats and many miscellaneous items of clothing were collected and distributed to needy families in Boulder County and to various charitable organizations. Please bring in your warm items to help out our community!
Halloween is once again upon us and it's time to start thinking about costumes, if you plan on wearing them! Please abide by the rules around costumes are: No Blood, Gore, Masks, Weapons of any kind, Face paint is ok if appropriate and we can still see their face, school appropriate.
WEATHER POLICY
Please be aware of our cold weather policy. Our students will be outdoors until the bell rings every day, unless the weather drops below 20 degrees or it's significantly raining/snowing. Only in these instances will we open up the cafeteria and allow students to enter the building before the first bell. School entrance and supervision on these "indoor days" begins at 8:25 AM on Mon., Tues., Thurs., and Fri., and 9:20 AM on Wed.
