Heartland Happenings - March 19, 2023
Notes From Ms. Johnson
I hope that each of you have enjoyed your Spring break and that you've had the opportunity to take advantage of the sunshine! I don't know about you but I'm looking forward to getting back in the swing of things! No matter how excited I get about an approaching break, I always end up missing the students after a couple of days and counting down the days until we return. This 4th quarter is going to fly by! The end of the year is always jam packed with activities, events, State testing and all the things necessary to tie up the loose ends of the school year. I encourage you to keep close tabs on your student's grades and missing work because finals will be here before we know it!
I mentioned this in my last newsletter but wanted to reiterate that Hawks Nest is a great place for students to receive additional time or help here at school to complete their missing, make-up, or redo assignments. Across all teams, we have seen so many students take advantage of this opportunity. Hawk's Nest takes place after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30pm-4:00pm. With that being said, know that students need to be signed up to attend and teachers need to confirm with a parent or guardian that they can stay during after school hours. Please note that transportation is not provided so all students must have their own ride home. If you would like to have your student stay for Hawks Nest, please reach out to one of your students' teachers to make this request. They will ensure that your student makes it on the closest available day based on availability.
Spring sports is in full swing with baseball, track, tennis and golf on deck! Be sure to come out and support our Thunderhawks as they compete especially as the Spring weather rolls in. I'm sure the weather will be perfect for an outdoor evening in the weeks to come. Be sure to click on the Heartland athletics button below to view all of the schedules and to learn more about all things Thunderhawk sports!
This is just a reminder that there is no school tomorrow due to an EPS Teacher Collaboration Day. Please enjoy Monday off and we look forward to welcoming our students back on Tuesday March 21st. As always should you have any questions, ideas or suggestions please feel free to reach out to our office. Let's have a great week, Thunderhawks!
WE ARE...HEARTLAND!
Respectfully,
