Notes from Mrs. Hamp

  • Our field trip to the Renaud Center will be this Friday. We will be leaving promptly at 9:30, so please make sure your kiddo is at school on time. The students will have the opportunity to swim or play in the gym area, so they will need to have a change of clothes ready. We will be leaving the Renaud Center at 1:00 pm and head across the way to Sports Park adjacent to the Renaud Center. If it is raining, we will be coming back to school for lunch instead.
  • The 5th grade musical is this Wednesday evening. Please have your child at school by 6:30 pm. If you have family members that will not be able to attend the evening musical performance, we will have morning performance on Tuesday at 9:30 am.
  • Scholastic Book Fair is in town this week. This book fair is buy one, get one free. We will not have a preview session but students will have an opportunity to bring money and purchase books throughout the week. Please send in money to support our library.
  • May 12th will be our D.A.R.E. graduation. All families are invited to attend the graduation at 9:30 am.

What are we learning this week?

Phonics: Latin Morpheme: vert

Math: We will continue to move through Topic 15. Throughout the rest of this week, we will be classifying quadrilaterals and identifying. We will look at the attributes and special features of quadrilaterals as well. We will test over this topic on Monday of next week.

ELA: This week we will continue in our final unit, the Body Systems. We will be focusing on the different body systems and how they work together. We will then turn our focus to learning about a specific disease in a group and transform into doctors of that disease. Throughout this process, we will learn about credible sources and how to skim through articles to find important information while taking notes.

Happy Birthday!
