What is going on at school?
What we are learning this coming week...
Math: The focus this week will be a continuation of geometry. Students will describe 3D figures using distinguishing features. Students will also be comparing 2D shapes using attributes. Mid-week students will have an assessment in geometry. Daily students will be problem solving as they relate concepts to everyday life experiences.
Science: The spotlight in science will be an extension of plants and animals as they learn about environmental effects and animal characteristics. Students will recognize how environmental factors have an affect on the growth and behavior of living things. Students will study animal characteristics and how they help animals meet their basic needs. We will be doing several hands on activities to demonstrate these concepts.
Reading: The big idea in reading will be media literacy. Students will use comprehension skills to analyze how words, images, graphics, and sounds work together in various forms to impact meaning. Students will also recognize different purposes of media (informational vs entertainment).
Writing: In writing students will be working on persuasive stories along with peer editing.

My brother is getting married in Santa Fe next weekend. I will be out Thursday afternoon and returning on Tuesday. Mrs. Partridge will be their sub. I know she will take great care of our kids. I will not be here on Friday the 5th to send out homework and send a weekly newsletter. The following week, (April 8-12th) will be a “no homework week.” Please keep the kids reading and doing Math facts. We will all enjoy a week off of homework! We will say it is in honor of” teacher appreciation” week, I would like a break from grading it and looking it over!
Next week’s homework is attached.
Have a great weekend!
