LMS HOOFPRINTS
Lilburn Middle School Newsletter - MARCH 2018
Principal's Corner 03/28/2018
Greetings to All:
We would like to thank you for your continued support! Your partnership in learning makes all of the difference. I would like to cordially invite you to our District V Area Board meeting that will be held on April 12th (7:00PM- light refreshments served at 6:30PM) at Berkmar High School. This will be an opportunity for you to hear about the great things that are happening in Gwinnett County Public Schools and the Meadowcreek Cluster.
Our next progress report will go home on May 2nd. Please make sure that you are checking your child's progress on the parent portal. It is important that student grades are 75% or higher, lower grades may cause students to be in danger of failing a course or even being retained. Please review the promotion criteria found at this link>>>http://bit.ly/GCPSpromotion
All students will be administered the Georgia Milestone Assessment April 11th-April 23rd. Please make sure that students get adequate rest, eat a good breakfast, and that they arrive to school at 8:50AM daily for testing. No early checkouts will be allowed during GMAS testing sessions. Students will be testing from 9:15-12:00 noon. Please be mindful of making sure that medical and other appointments are made outside of testing hours. To learn more about how to help your child improve their academic performance and how to prepare for the Georgia Milestones Assessments (GMAS), we ask that you visit the Georgia Department of Education website at the links below to access valuable resources about the new Georgia Milestone Assessments. Sample assessment items are included in the links attached below too.

To help students practice for the Georgia Milestone Assessment, we ask that you have your child practice using USA Test Prep at www.usatestprep.com/Member-Login.
Car-Rider and Parking Reminders:
Please make sure that you drop-off and pick-up your child on the side walk lane (closest to the building). The driving lane closest to the parking lot is for passing only. In order to expedite pick-ups and drop-offs, we ask that you pull up to the first yellow safety pillar (if you are the first car) stop and then pick-up or drop-off. If you are in a rush and can’t wait in the pick-up/drop-off line, please park your car, walk and cross the lanes with your child. Do not motion for your child to cross the lanes. This creates a safety issue. We ask for your patience! In the morning some cars will drive through the passing lane because they are staff members trying to park in their reserved parking spaces.
Remember, additional parking is located on the side and rear of our building. All visitors must enter through the front doors only! Thanks for your understanding and support.
Student Dress Code Reminders:
We have noticed a rise in students where apparel that is not appropriate for school. Please make sure that your child adheres to the following dress code that can be found at the link here>>>http://bit.ly/LMSdresscode
Our Spring Break begins on April 2nd-6th. All students and staff will return to school on Monday, April 9, 2018. Thank you for your commitment to your child’s success! We know that the sky is the limit for our children!
