5th Grade News
Week of Sept. 28 - Oct. 2
Welcome!
Learning Targets
Writing - Students are working on writing personal narratives. Fingerprint writing needs to be finished this week. We will work on this in class; however, some students are also working on these at home.
Social Studies - We are continuing our study of different types of maps. Most of our focus will be on the skill of finding the absolute location, latitude, and longitude of a city or landmark. We will also review scales and map keys.
Math - We are still working on multiplication and division, but specifically on multiplying and dividing whole multi-digit numbers. We will also practice using parenthesis and brackets. Please, encourage your children to practice their math facts EVERY DAY. Even if it is only for a few minutes. Also, MobyMax login and password information can be found in your child's B.E.E. Binder.
Science - Students are still studying ecosystems, specifically focusing on food webs and how organisms acquire energy. Vocabulary review: ecosystem, herbivore, consumer.
