Where Learning Takes Flight
A Note from Mrs. Tallent
This week we started our MOCK STAAR Testing with 4th and 5th, and will continue next week with 5th and 3rd. This allows students an opportunity to experience the online platform and gives our teachers information to guide our instruction. Please reassure students that this is just like any other test they take in class and all we want is for them to try their best! It is not about what score they get or if they pass. It is a tool for us to use to guide our instruction and make small groups as we work to ensure that our students have mastered the TEKs.
Kindergarten Online Registration will be opening up this Thursday, April 7th. Please help us spread the word to your neighbors who don't already have students here at FCE! We will be posting information about the Registration Process and Kindergarten Round Up on the website this week, so please direct people there.
We are currently going through a transition period as Mrs. Lopez, our Registrar/Attendance Specialist, has been promoted within the district! We are so excited for her, but know she will be missed by many! We will have support from Mrs. Lopez and the district until our new Registrar is able to start. Dual Language and Spanish Immersion Programs: Parent Information Nights
Parents of incoming Kindergarten and 1st grade students for the 2022-2023 school year are invited to attend a Parent Information Night to learn more about Humble ISD’s Dual Language and Spanish Immersion Programs and the application process.
The Dual Language Program is a biliteracy program model that integrates native Spanish speakers and native English speakers in a mixed group setting through literacy in the core content areas of Math, Reading, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. The Spanish Immersion Program is a language enrichment program that provides Spanish as a second language to fluent English speaking students.
The Humble ISD Language Acquisition department will be hosting the following sessions:

The application window for these programs will open at 8 a.m. on Monday, April 4. Applications will be due by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 22. Parents will be notified of acceptance into the program on June 3.

Information from the GT Department
- Students New to Humble ISD since October 1 The referral window for G/T services is open for students who are new to Humble ISD since October 1, 2021 only. Please contact the campus G/T Lead Teacher to obtain further information. Referrals may be made through Tuesday, April 19, 2022.
- Camp Invention Calling all curious kids entering kindergarten-6th grade! Join Advanced Learning & Services for a confidence-boosting STEM summer camp where kids build creative inventions and lasting friendships. Led by Humble ISD educators, our camp offers exciting hands-on activities. We will have double the fun this year with the opportunity to experience Camp Invention twice – join us for one or two weeks! Lost and Found
Our lost and found is overflowing with winter jackets and coats! Please have your child stop by and check to see if they have missing items hanging up. Parents are also welcome to come up in the morning or during your child's grade level lunch to check. We will have items available for parents to look through at our Academic Night on April 14th and then will plan to donate whatever is left over.

Our Spring Book Fair is right around the corner!!! We are moving to a Cash Free Book Fair, so please make sure you read the information below to see how students will be able to shop and purchase books!

5th Grade Parents: Photos for Manners Banquest Needed!
Remember to send photos for the Manners Banquet by Tuesday, April 19th! Email 1 current picture + 1 baby/early school-days picture to Nicole Truby at
rossna@msn.com. Make sure all photos are appropriate to be shown to the entire 5th grade class. Please email images in digital format as soon as possible, so she can get started with the slideshow. In the subject line, please type Manners Banquet, student’s first and last name, and home room teacher. If you do not have digital images, you can scan photos at most photo-developing places (e.g., Walgreens, CVS, etc.) for a minimal charge.
