Example 1 (Online)

Book with Known Author
This can be proven when the author says, “They’re sheep in wolves’ clothing who manage to write about bad things and make you feel good” (Bukiet 35).

Notice:
  • The citation is placed inside a parentheses
  • The citation is placed after the quotation and before the period
  • The author's name comes before the page number
  • There is no comma between the author and the page number

Example 2 (Original)

Book with Unknown Author
The author uses simile when he says, "He was as big as the giant" ("The boy and the Giant" 12).

Notice:
  • The citation is placed inside a parentheses
  • The citation is placed after the quotation and before the period
  • The title, inside quotation marks, comes before the page number
  • There is no comma between the title and the page number

Example 3 (Original)

Book with additional authors
The authors foreshadow when they say, "Julie knew there was something wrong; she knew something was about to happen" (Potter and Meyer 126).


Notice:

  • The citation is placed inside a parentheses
  • The citation is placed after the quotation and before the period
  • The authors names are spereated by an "and" and there are no commas between their names
  • There is no comma between the author's last names and the page number

  • The citation is placed inside a parentheses and with quotation marks
  • The citation is placed after the quotation and before the period
  • Only the title is cited
