Scholarship Opportunities
The William Burton Spirit of the Eagle Scholarship was created to honor its namesake. William Burton helped Granite Hills High to three consecutive league championships in football. As a senior, Burton was named all-county as a defensive lineman. He also helped the Eagles baseball team win league and section titles as a sophomore. William’s parents, Donna and Brad Burton, along
with his brothers, Jacob and Zachary, wish to honor and remember William by awarding one graduating senior each year with The William Burton Spirit of the Eagle Scholarship. The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate bravery, patriotism, individuality, and kindness, qualities that helped make William so remarkable. The recipient will have his/her name engraved on the William Burton Spirit of the Eagle Trophy — on display at Granite Hills — and receive a check in the amount of $500 to $1,000. Past winners include Anthony McGrew
and Kate Matushek.
