Newsletter from Audubon Park School K8

Dear APS Parents, Community Members, Teachers and Staff,

I am looking forward to the week ahead with the Performing Arts Winter Concert, this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium. I hope you will come see our students perform. We are so proud of their talents.

Last week brought exciting events to our campus as a student group from Buenos Aires, Argentina spent 2 days with us. Our students enjoyed spending time with friends they have been Skyping with from The Wimbledon School of Language over the last year. See some photos below.

I also enjoyed spending time with parents and staff who gathered to donate to our Falcon Fund last Thursday night. Thank you again to Kristi and Greg Clark for hosting our donors. It was a beautiful evening with extraordinary people who support APSK8 so well. Parents and Partners, after the holidays, stay tuned for ways to connect with our students as mentors.

Looking forward to a busy and exciting next few weeks of school.

Thank you for your continued support,

Trevor Honohan

What an amazing 2 days we spent with 17 visiting students and 3 administrators from The Wimbledon School of Language, Buenos Aires, Argentina last week. They spent time in Spanish classes, worked with younger students and also performed an interactive show with our Kindergarten and First Graders, "Going on a Bear Hunt." Our middle school band welcomed them, our elementary chorus sang for them and our art students created Florida-themed canvas paintings for them to take home. On Friday they performed their show, "This is Us" focusing on the Global Goals and how we can all be better global citizens. One of our favorite parts from the show was when they performed a poem in English alongside our Spanish class students who performed it in Spanish. Plus, they got a personal yoga session in our Zen Den, lessons in our garden and even played a soccer match against some members of our soccer team. It was a wonderful visit and we will continue this global partnership in the year to come.

APS College & Career Fair

APS is holding its 1st College and Career Fair for our middle school students on January 14th from 8:40-10:20 AM. Students will use this time to meet with professionals working in a variety of career paths to find a path that ignites excitement for their future.

We can't hold this event without your support though. We are looking for different career professions to come and show off what they do. We are looking for jobs that are trade certified to college graduates; and all in-between. We would like to have a variety of careers represented to allow our students to explore all options available to them. If you would like to come and show off what you do, please sign up using the link below.

For more information, please feel free to contact Michelle Johnson at .

Mark your calendars for Audubon Park's first International Night - January 23, 2020!

Have a country or culture you want to represent? Want to help with the event?
