MESSAGE FROM OUR ASST PRINCIPAL JENNIFER MURPHY
Dear Bearcat Families:
Wow, it is hard to believe that we are well into the month of April! Time sure has flown by this year and Spring Fever is setting in as students engage in their first full year of in-person learning since 2018. This week we shared our foundational school values with students. Establishing values helps us to identify the ways in which we want to behave and treat others here at MHS. In the upcoming weeks students will collaborate with teachers in small focus groups to define how these values will be lived out across our school. We are looking forward to this exciting work as we take additional steps to become a high school for ALL students.
As we move into the last eight weeks of school we wanted to take some time to remind our families (and students) about some common expectations here on campus.
Lunch:
MHS continues to be a closed campus.
We have three lunches that run for 30 minutes and students are expected to stay on-site at this time.
Lunch continues to be free to all students and the snack shack, student store and vending machines are available for students to purchase additional food/drink items.
This coming week we are excited to bring tables back to the commons for lunch.
In addition to the commons and PAC students can eat outside the commons on the patio, on the hallway benches, at the small café tables in the upper hall and mezzanine, and on the couches/café tables. Pod spaces outside classrooms are reserved for classroom use and these are not spaces for lunch.
Students who drive to school can also eat outside in their cars
The library is available for socializing during lunch but eating is not allowed in the library at this time.
ACT:
ACT is our Academic Intervention Time
This time is reserved primarily for instruction and intervention
This is not free time
Students can choose classrooms to be in
Students who are all caught up on work and don’t need support from their teacher should choose classrooms that have more break options available. Students should work with their teachers to identify classrooms where they can relax or catch up with friends,
The campus is closed during ACT
Cell phones:
Use of cell phones should be reserved for non-instructional times
Did you know that by checking your student’s battery usage you can see how long they are on each app on their phone? Try it tonight and talk with your child about ways to avoid this distraction during class.
We are in the home stretch and are celebrating so many successes already this year. Thank you for your continued partnership this year. If you ever have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Have a great weekend,
Jennifer Murphy
Assistant Principal

I learned today that there is a great link to purchase a replacement Chromebook charger for our new Acer Chromebooks in case you are asked. This is the exact replacement charger that we order through AG Parts (previously known as Asset Genie). Feel free to share this link with families if they want to purchase a replacement charger on their own. Thanks!
