HONOR ROLL
HONOR ROLL:
In addition to the report card, but approximately a week later, we will send an electronic letter to those who earned Junior Honor Roll and Senior Honor Roll.
We maintain two quarterly honor rolls at Thomas. Students receive points for their quarterly grades:
A = 4 points
B = 3 points
C = 2 points
D = 1 point
F = 0 points
We take great pride in sending these letters to students who have been able to maintain a GPA above 3.25. Students who receive 3.85 or higher and no D's or F's will be placed on "Senior Honors." Those students who receive 3.25 - 3.84 and no F's will be placed on "Junior Honors."
ATTENDANCE & TARDY
At the end of each quarter, we will also send home a letter notifying parents of students who have missed more than 5% of the school year or have been tardy for more than 5% of the school year.
"By as early as sixth grade, high truancy rates become a distinct predictor of whether or not a student will graduate from high school."
For this reason, we think it is critical to notify all families that attending school and attending on time is critical to your child's success.
Thank you! Student Council
Big thanks to the same group for helping decorate the courtyard for the Haunted Circus PTA event on Friday night! Thank you for all that you do to make TMS a special place to learn and grow!
Conferences - Thank you!
Thanks also the PTA for an incredible luncheon for the teachers on Thursday. The main meal was delicious, the desserts were amazing, and the decorations were over the top! We LOVE how much effort went into the planning and decorating for our teachers.

WILDSTANG MISS MAKER WORKSHOP
Hello Thomas Middle School,
We are students from the District 214 FIRSTRobotics Competition Team 111, WIldStang. Our team is made up of students from all grades and all six schools in District 214.
Throughout the year, our team hosts a number of outreach events with the goal of giving younger students experience with STEM. One of our most popular events is Miss Maker Workshop, targeting 9 to 14-year-old girls. The purpose of the workshop is to get young girls interested in and excited about engineering and science.
The event this year is being held on November 3rd and November 10th. During the workshop, the girls will complete a Mechanical, Software and Electrical project. In the Mechanical session, the girls will construct a catapult. In Software, they’ll learn how to program using Scratch and create a computer game. And in the electrical, they will learn how to solder while building a wired decision maker.
We would love to have some of the girls from Thomas Middle School attend. Attached is a flyer with details for this year's workshop. We would appreciate if you could include the flyer in your parent newsletter, share it with your Science Teachers or any STEM Club Sponsors, or any other way to let your girls learn about the event. If you would like hard copies of the flyer to hand out or hang on your bulletin boards, let us know and we’d be happy to drop by your school.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
FRC Team 111, WildStang

TMS Club Information
If your child does not see a club they are interested in or they want to consider starting a new club please have them talk with their homeroom teacher about completing a NEW CLUB PROPOSAL form.
Absent & Upcoming Absences? Want to request homework?
You will no longer need to call the office to request work that has been missed. Instead, you can stay up-to-date by logging into Schoology. We do not expect your child to complete the work while they are absent because we anticipate they are sick and that is the reason they are home. When they are feeling better and ready to begin making up the work it will be available on Schoology. If you are not confident that the work is available on Schoology please email the teacher directly to inquire about what homework specifically needs to be made up.
Thank you!
