Keep Everyone Safe!
PLEASE CHECK THE LOST AND FOUND FOR YOUR STUDENT'S CLOTHING
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I wanted to write a quick note that October 31st is typically a regular school day at Meadow Point with no out-of-the ordinary celebrations, costumes, or parties here at school. This year we are having the annual Fun Run on the 31st, so in that respect the day is not completely typical. Students should wear their Boosterthon shirts to keep track of their laps.
PTCO will be running a Trunk or Treat in the parking lot on Monday, October 28th. Please see additional information below for Trunk or Treat in the PTCO news below. As students find activities over the weekend and Thursday evening, I hope that everyone remains safe in their celebrations!
Please call me if you have any questions,
Tom McDowell, PrincipalI wanted to write a quick note about some safety reminders, especially coming to and from school. It's always a good time to remind students how to get to school safely. It's also a great time to remind the community that our students' safety is everyone's responsibility.
To help train the students, you may wish to take the time to walk with them to school and show students how to cross a street. Other important rules and laws include:
- Use the crosswalk yourself
- Don't encourage students to cross where there isn't a crosswalk
- Be courteous to staff - they are there to keep kids safe and at my direction
- Call the office if you see something we might be able to help with
- I've also noticed dogs, which must be kept far away from the path of students
If you are driving:
- Follow the rules and procedures of our drop off lanes
- Don't park or wait in the bus lane
- Put Down Your Phone
- SLOW DOWN
- Be patient
- Avoid U-turns or other illegal moves - you aren't supposed to do it for safety reasons
- Remember to stop completely at all stop signs
Of course I want everyone at school on time, but I also want everyone at school safely. Please don't hurry in the school zone - a tardy is always better than an accident.
Finally, I want to say again that this is everyone's responsibility. There's no real excuse or reason to place students in danger for adult convenience. Every rule and law has a reason, and at its core is student and community safety.
Thank you for your support!

Paper Copies of Newsletter
We have had requests to provide a paper newsletter, so we are going to try it. Rather than print all of the electronic attachments we are going to ask you to visit the electronic newsletter if you see something you would like to access. We also always invite feedback and you can email me at tmcdowell@cherrycreekschools.org .
Has your student outgrown some of their clothes? We have some gently used articles of clothing here at the school we may be able to help you out with. Also if you happen to have some clothing that is new or gently used that you are no longer in need of we gladly accept donations.

Cardboard Challenge
The Cardboard Challenge is a celebration of creativity and the role communities can play in fostering it inspired by the short film, “Caine’s Arcade” , http://cainesarcade.com/. Kids are challenged to create and build using cardboard, recycled materials and their imagination. This provides our students a unique opportunity outside of the classroom to innovate, create and shine! The event is open to ALL CCSD students, free of charge. Happy New Year! I would like to just take a few minutes to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Joei Sayers I am the school's new Family/Community Liaison. I am a Grizzly parent as well. It is my job to help families in our school community get involved by volunteering whether at the school or at a school function as well as connecting you with resources available to you in our community. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions, ideas or concerns that I can help you with to make Meadow Point Grizzly Great.

Meadow Point can really thrive when parents and guardians in the community get involved.
Teachers sometimes need help in the class as well as cutting and sorting papers for classroom projects. We have many functions throughout the year where an hour or two of your time can make a huge difference, for instance our school carnival, fun run, field day, school dances etc.
Our PTCO is also a great way to get involved. The meetings are usually one hour once or twice a month you can sit in and listen to what is going on in the Meadow Point school community and give us your feedback.
