Pleasant Valley Family Newsletter
May 21, 2021
Our mission is to empower and inspire a community of lifelong learners and leaders!
Hello Pleasant Valley Families,
Thank you for all of your support with PV's Student Council "fun" Penny Wars fundraiser. We will announce the total of the PV community's contribution and present the gift to our local First Responders right next door on Pleasant Valley Elementary!
In the fall of 2020, we asked PV families to take this National PTA Spring Survey. In concert with PTA, we continue to welcome our parents to engage to the full extent that we were able to do so and we also put several things into place, such as translation for our families of English Language Learners, a more inviting welcoming display in the lobby (hopefully you can all see it in person next year!) as well as providing an inclusive middle school spring orientation with all three of our district's middle schools. Please take the survey again so we can compare the two surveys and begin planning for future action steps to make Pleasant Valley the very best school it can be! Click on the blue text to take this quick survey: National PTA Spring Survey
Please remember that if COVID-19 has impacted your child by either testing positive or being a primary contact to someone who has, you must keep them home and notify our nursing staff of the next steps. It goes without saying that any students exhibiting symptoms should remain home for at least 24 hours until symptom-free. Towards the end of this newsletter is a link to our Health and Safety Plan. Families can reach out to our nursing staff at 440-843-1531.
As always, I want to thank you for your partnership with Pleasant Valley! We are very appreciative of all of you! Should you ever have any questions, concerns, or just a great idea you would like to share, please send me an email at bokas@parmacityschools.org or call the main office at 440.885.2380.
Very Sincerely,
Mrs. Stephanie Boka

Summer Reading Program Cuyahoga County Library 2021 Summer Reading Program: Tales & Tails!
From our local public librarian, Susan Hamm:
I would like to invite Pleasant Valley Elementary students to participate in Cuyahoga County Public Library’s Summer Reading Program 2021. Our “Tales and Tails” theme is all about animals. Students can use a game board or play online to earn books and prizes. There will also be eight STEAM video challenges and 40 fun Summer Learning programs.
We have a short video about the program that can be shared with your classes: https://tinyurl.com/SummerTalesVideo.
Our goal is to foster a love of reading and learning in your students. Parma Branch summer programs will include:
- In-person, one-on-one tutoring by appointment for Kindergarten to Grade 8
- Free Summer Lunch
- Take-home creative activity packs
- Participative online storytimes
The library is open regular hours and Parma Branch has a drive-up window for customers who do not feel comfortable coming inside. See this link for our COVID-19 Response Plan.
