Prairie View Elementary
March 2021
A message from Mr. Ryan
Spring is in the air! What an exciting time to see our surroundings transform from a frozen white landscape towards the anticipation of an explosion of new growth full of bright colors. We are excited about the transformations we see each week here at Prairie View as well. Lately, it seems that when I visit classrooms, I’m a witness to countless “lightbulb” moments. Spring always seems to be the time of the school year when we see our students begin to transform into more independent learners, who are focused on asking the essential “why” and “how” questions. Last week, when I was in a second-grade classroom, I watched a student excitedly go about his work. When he thought he had found the correct answer, he confidently proclaimed, “I’m done!” Upon further review by his teacher, the student’s answer was incorrect. What happened next was a beautiful thing! Without hesitation, without frustration, and without prompting, he dug back into his work. A few minutes later, this student raised his hand and informed his teacher that he “figured out what he did wrong” on his first attempt. As an educator, it fills me with pride to see students eager to learn from their mistakes. This student demonstrated stamina, perseverance, confidence, and excitement while learning. These are all wonderful learner traits that speak to the excellent learning environment the Prairie View staff cultivates each day. As you work with your remote learners this spring, keep in mind the importance of teaching them to have a growth mindset. Cheer on your learner when they demonstrate stamina, celebrate them for asking for help, and encourage them to always ask “why” and “how,” if they don’t understand. These habits will allow our students to continue to flourish throughout the spring trimester.

9:00 a.m - 3:00 p.m.
Parents/Guardians should register their children at their individual school. Registration Packets are available for pick up outside of the main entrances of each K-3 building.
There are 2 options for registering your child. No Contact Registration or Face to Face Registration with Social Distancing Protocol. To reduce the amount of traffic inside of our buildings and to support a safe environment, we highly encourage no contact registration if you are able to do so.
No Contact Registration: Parents/Guardians may send registration and required proofs via email (email listed on registration form). Pictures of documents are acceptable. We will require official hard & notarized copies by the first day of the 2021-2022 school year. Once received, a secretary will contact you to set up a Tyler account to complete online registration requirements.
Face to Face Registration with Social Distancing Protocol: This option is available for those with no internet or device for no contact registration. Parents/Guardians can stop in to register at their child’s school during the scheduled hours. We ask that you please do the following:
- Please be sure registration forms are filled out prior to coming to the building.
- We ask that only 1 individual comes in to register and that you abide by social distancing protocol.
- Including wearing a mask.
- We are sorry, but please no children.
If you have any questions or are having difficulty with registration please contact your child’s school and leave a voicemail.

Until the end of the school year, free food is available through the USDA's "Free Meals for Kids" program.
Each week you will have the opportunity to order food for your student for the following week. Our ordering form is open from Friday morning to Monday morning. The intent of the form is to order Lunches for all five days of the week and breakfasts for days that your student is remote learning. On days that your student(s) are in-person, breakfast does not have to be ordered in advance. Your student(s) will be sent home on their last in-person learning day with food for the remainder of the school week.
Click Here for the link to order food each week. Be sure to read the information on top of the Google form.
