Tuscany Heights Elementary
168th Lighthouse School in the Nation, Building Leaders
Message from Administration
We hope that you had a fantastic FIESTA weekend! Welcome to May!
This week, we are hosting our Spring Book Fair in an effort to raise funds to support STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Supplies for the upcoming school year. We are excited about welcoming this NEW Initiative on campus. For now, we are starting the implementation in 4th and 5th grades, as well as giving consideration to restructuring our ART and Academic Motor Lab into a STEAM Lab for next year. We will have one class in the rotation along with Music and PE for our students due to changes in staffing allocations. We would love for all grade levels to benefit from this initiative as we discussed with Maker Space. We will not forego ART though! We are looking at ways to integrate STEAM and continue with an ART focus on campus. We will reach out to gather your feedback before making final plans. Thank you for supporting our students while we look at building more inquiry, collaboration, and engineering into their lessons. It looks like it will be an exciting 2018-19!
In the meantime, check in with your child to see where they are on their current goals! The school year is fast approaching, so we want them to stay focused on their goals.
The 5th grade STAAR Scores have arrived! We will be reaching out this week.
Jump Rope For Heart
Friday, April 20th kicked-off the Jump Rope for Heart Challenge. The students met members of the “Scare Squad.” Students learned about making healthy choices and how important it is to have a healthy heart. We encourage everyone to sign up online and download the app on any smart phone or tablet. The app is called Jump/Hoops. Donations can be made starting today and the fundraiser will end on May 11th. Cash donations will be accepted, but online donations are recommended. We raised close to $10,000 last year and our goal for this year is $11,000. If the goal is met, Coach Kaufman, as well as Coach Fonger will be pied in the face. We will try and hand out prizes daily during P.E. based on the fundraiser notifications we get on our end through the app. - THE Coaches

Leadership at it's BEST- 3rd GRADE
We are so very proud of our Tuscany Heights 3rd Graders and their amazing teachers! The students became entrepreneurs by starting their own pencil company and selling them from $.25-$2.00. Then, the students took all or some of their profits to donate to The Ferrari Kid in honor of Madeline and Godric (Aaron and Bethany Karnatz), a Tuscany Family. The 3rd graders raised $550 to give to this agency which turns out will be enough to sponsor their next little boy or girl in need. This has been the largest donation to date for our 3rd grade classes.
We can’t thank the students, teachers, families, and Ferrari Kid enough for working together for the good of others. Great leadership!!!!
General PTA Meeting – Tuesday, May 1st – 6:30 pm PTA Meeting with Kinder Program to follow! Boosterthon Sponsors will be in attendance as well.
2018 THE Teacher Appreciation Week April 30th – May 4th
The Tuscany Heights Elementary PTA is asking all of our students and families to help us show STAR teachers and staff how much we appreciate them during the week of April 30th! Visit the T.H.E. PTA website at www.tuscanyheightspta.org for some fun ways that our students, no matter what grade, can participate in this fun week for our amazing teachers! Backpack flyers will be coming home soon. Also, be sure to check out the faculty “favorites” pages available at http://www.tuscanyheightspta.org/faculty-favorites.html
Warmer weather = Overflowing Lost and Found
Parents, as the weather warms up we find lots of sweaters and jackets around the school with no name on them – they end up in lost and found and it is OVERflowing! Help us out by checking closets and then sending your students on a mission to find what is lost and bring it home! ALL items will be donated to a charity at the end of the semester.
Want to get involved? With the election of our new PTA officers, we are filling PTA board chair positions for 2018-19. If you would like more information or have any questions about any of the volunteer opportunities please don’t hesitate to ask. Kelly Evans, our incoming president or I would be happy to visit with you. The following chairs are available:
