Teacher Meetings & Schedules
In addition to teaching, teachers have many other responsibilities and duties that you might not have been aware of prior to distance learning. One of those duties is attending meetings during their instructional day for professional development or IEP's to name a few. With the many challenges of distance learning, we are working to provide students with their instructional minutes while also allowing the teacher to attend these required meetings. Please allow for flexibility when your teacher needs to adjust the instructional schedule to attend meetings.
Distance Learning
Please help support our teachers, all RRS students, and your child during distance learning by doing the following:
- Encourage your child to keep their camera on
- Review the PVSD Distance Learning Protocols with your child
- STAY OFF CAMERA to protect student privacy and allow teachers to do their job. If needed and dependent upon the child's age you may assist with logging on, keeping them on task, or gathering supplies but remain off the camera's view.
- DO NOT participate in your child's session or meeting
- Be sensitive to what is going on in the background and the fact that other children are watching
- DO NOT engage in dialogue, conversations, or "chat" the teacher during instruction
- Email any questions you might have to the teacher after the session or set up a time to call or meet virtually during their office hours
- Students should follow the RRS school dress code and be appropriately dressed when Zooming with their class
- Check emails, Seesaw, and teacher websites regularly for important announcements, lessons, and assignments
- Minimize distractions and noise during live session
- Set up a learning space for your child
- Allow your child to be an independent learner
We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to develop a learning environment that develops our children's study skills, academic skills, and encourages them to be independent learners.
Social Emotional Support
If your child is struggling during these trying times and is in need of social-emotional support please contact our school counselor Mrs. Kasso at mkasso@pleasantvallesysd.org
RRS Budding Artists Submit your Artwork Now for Art Reflections Contest!
Our Annual Art Reflections Contest is live and submissions will be all virtual! You can complete everything from the comfort of your own home!
Our Annual Art Reflections is a program that inspires young artists to create original works. The program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.
This year, submissions will be made virtually. Our school due date is October 21, 2020.
For more information and category guidelines, please visit https://capta.org/resource/participant-forms/
To submit your artwork virtually, please complete our google form and attach your work of art. https://forms.gle/QcYbVtEKTxBfRvUN6
Artworks are submitted first to school-level PTAs, where they are first recognized, celebrated and judged by five grade-level divisions, while a non-judged Special Artists division celebrates student artists with special needs. School PTAs then choose a selection of entries to be judged by local PTA units, which are then sent on to councils and then districts for consideration. The final artworks submitted to California State PTA by districts are then considered for Outstanding Interpretation, Awards of Excellence or Awards of Merit. Outstanding Interpretation and Award of Excellence entries then go on to represent California in the final National PTA judging round.
While we will not be able to have our annual live showcase, we are making plans for a virtual event to showcase all of our talented students!
