Welcome Easter Triduum
Happy Easter! I hope your family has a blessed Easter holiday and that you celebrate the Resurrection of Christ by attending Mass together as a family. Easter festivities of egg hunts and the Easter Bunny are fun for adults and children alike, but the true place to celebrate the miracle and blessings of Easter is by going to Mass together.
The summit of the Liturgical Year is the Easter Triduum—from the evening of Holy Thursday to the evening of Easter Sunday. Though chronologically three days, they are liturgically one day unfolding for us the unity of Christ's Paschal Mystery. The single celebration of the Triduum marks the end of the Lenten season, and leads to the Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord at the Easter Vigil (usccb.org)
The liturgical services that take place during the Triduum are:
- Mass of the Lord's Supper
- Good Friday of the Lord's Passion
- Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord
Summer School 2022
You may notice as you look through the booklet that only one week of classes is being offered this year, June 6 -9. Due to faculty and staff family and health obligations this summer, our class offerings are not as plentiful as in years past, but each will be a wonderful experience for your child. The classes we are offering are not only going to be incredible learning experiences, but will also fill quickly. Class size is limited to 16 students for most classes, and classes are filled on a first come, first served basis. Your enrollment form and $15 registration fee will hold your child's spot.
Please note that there are both morning and afternoon classes offered during the week with the option for your child to stay for a full day of fun. More information about the classes, how to enroll, and other details are included in the booklet. Please reach out to the school office or to me (jlown@jacss.org) if you have any questions.
Register Now for the 2022-2023 School Year
Registration for the 2022-2023 school year is open! You should have received a letter from Sister Julie with information about registering your child for the next school year. Submitting the registration form by April 30, 2022 is critical for several reasons, most importantly to help us plan for faculty and class size for the next school year. St. Mary's has classes that are currently split or were capped at 25 this year, and your prompt attention will help me plan for next year. Current families who register after April 30 will be assessed a late fee and your child could be put on a wait list if the class enrollment is full. Current JACS family's have their child's class placement held until April 30, after this date enrollment is open to new families which makes your registration all the more important.
After you complete the enrollment packet, a Submit Enrollment Packet and Make Payment form will appear. Please follow the instructions provided online to submit the enrollment packet along with the registration fee payment as follows:
Returning Student $50 ($100 after April 30)
New Student $50
Parish Codes
If you are a registered member of St. Mary or St. Peter the Apostle parishes in Joplin or Sacred Heart parish in Webb City, you will need to obtain a new parish code from your respective parish in order for us to charge you the parish tuition rate rather than full tuition. If you do not yet have your code, you can complete your re-enrollment process and leave the space blank for this. Once you have the parish code you will need to contact Marla Testerman to provide her with this information. When we have this code from you, we will finalize your tuition charges for the new school year. Please provide parish code information by Friday, May 20 so that we may finalize tuition agreements in early June.
If you have any questions about the process, please contact Marla Testerman, who is coordinating our admissions and enrollment process, at 417-624-5003 ext. 203 or mtesterman@jacss.org. You are also welcome to contact St. Mary's school office for general questions about the enrollment process. As always, we are here to help your family in any way we are able.
Join Us for Synod!
Have you heard about the worldwide Synod on Synodality? Join us for a Synodal Consultation at St. Mary’s Parish on Tuesday, May 3 at 6:30 p.m. and St. Peter's Parish on Thursday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m.
What is a Synod on Synodality? The global Catholic Church is holding a synod (assembly, discussion) which takes place at the level of parishes, dioceses, nations, and the entire Church. "Synodality" means our ability as a Church to communicate, learn, and adapt at a communal level, from bottom to top, a listening process where all Catholics can listen and learn from each other.
Please join us and let your voice be heard! We are a pilgrim people walking together on the Way! For more information, please visit: https://www.jacss.org/news/synod/
