Congratulations Olivia B.
To encourage independent reading among elementary students, The Everett Aquasox organized a reading program and bookmark design contest. This year, Olivia B., a kindergartener in Miss Albano’s class, won the honor. Her bookmark was 1 of the 4 designs chosen from hundreds. This bookmark will be distributed to kids all over Snohomish County who are participating in the reading program. This is the 5th time a Columbia student has won. Congratulations Olivia!
Education Support Professionals Week March 14-18
The tradition of honoring Classified School Employees with a special week began in 1975 to recognize the contributions of Educational Support Professionals in the public schools. Classified staff are involved in nearly every aspect of education: maintaining buildings and grounds, managing the front office, preparing and serving meals, assisting in classrooms, safe transportation, a secure and healthy environment, and so much more.
Their support is critical to our students success and we encourage the entire community to join us in celebrating these amazing staff members and their commitment to providing the best educational experience for our students. Along with our community, we thank you for all you do!

Kindergarten Registration is Open
Do you have a child who will be at least 5 years old by August 31, 2022? Will they attend kindergarten in the Mukilteo School District next fall? Registration for kindergarten classes in the 2022-23 school year started March 7, 2022. Families can register online or pick up a registration packet at their neighborhood school.
To register you will need a copy of
- Birth Certificate
- Proof of Residence (Electric bill, Leasing Agreement, etc.)
- Immunization Record
Immunizations are required for in person school attendance and are established by the State of Washington. Students must have current immunizations to attend school. The state law states that students who are out of compliance with immunization requirements will be excluded from school until those conditions are met. Learn more about the state’s immunization requirements on the district website.
Kindergarten parents who like to submit an in-district transfer, can fill out the request form online. Students do not need to be registered in order to submit the transfer. They will need to be registered before District Office can process the transfer in September.
Volunteers
We are happy to announce that the Mukilteo School District is once again permitting volunteers in our schools.
We are following this guidance:
- District Volunteer Policy and Confidentiality Statement.
- Volunteer Application Disclosure Form.
- Request for Criminal History Information form. ID must be verified with this form.
- All volunteers must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
- We will start small to ensure safety protocols can be followed by limiting the number of non-essential adults in the building at any one time.
- More details to follow.
If you are interested in volunteering at Columbia you are encouraged to pick up a volunteer packet in the office. Plan to return materials, show photo ID and proof of vaccination at the front office.
Talk with your child’s teacher about volunteer needs in the classroom.
From the Nurse's Office
Sick Kids: Keep your student home if they are sick. Even if you think it's allergies or "just the sniffles," staying home prevents others from catching any germs or viruses. Refer to Snohomish Health Department for specific COVID protocols.
- Remember it is your responsibility to contact the school 24 Hours attendance line at (425) 366-2605 to report absences. Please refrain from calling the office between 8:45 - 9:05 to report an absence.
Clothing: Please remember to dress your child appropriately for outdoor play. Also, please send a set of extra clothes (regardless of grade) in a plastic bag labeled with your child's name, to be kept in their backpack.
Daily Screening Form: Please continue to monitor your student for Covid-19 symptoms and keep home when appropriate, washing your hands and limiting social gatherings to help students stay healthy and in school.
Student and Staff health and safety is our priority.
