Virtual Valentines Project
Melting the Miles between Classrooms
Happy Valentine's Day from the Tiger Techs at Neil A Armstrong Middle School in Fairless Hills, PA.
Who are we?
The Tiger Techs are a student tech team at Armstrong. Our school received a grant from Digital Promise and Verizon that provided every student in our school a Samsung Galaxy tablet with a 4G data plan in effort to close the digital divide. All the students in our school now have the ability to access the internet both at school and home. We are now a 1:1 school and the Tiger Techs are the key to the success of our technology program. The students are responsible for organizing and distributing the tablets to the entire student body. The Tiger Techs also install the MDM filter on all the tablets and operate a student "support desk" to help trouble shoot any tech problems. Often times teachers request that a tech come down to their classroom to help with a tech problem. Teachers also request the Tiger Techs to try out an app, create tutorials for a specific upcoming project or to come in as an extra set of hands when they are utilizing something new with the technology. The techs main focus is to support and demonstrate how technology is impacting student learning in our school. The school culture is changing and the Tiger Techs are proof of a more student driven climate in our school.
