Our Spotlights:
Staff Spotlight: Brian Spaulding
By: Lance Smith, Kevin Meyers and Timothy Jewett
Mr. Spaulding currently works in our maintenance department at Rimrock. He is from Rupert Idaho, where he grew up on a farm. He eventually moved to Mountain Home. He has had many jobs, one of which was a professional pilot. He said that was is favorite job out of all the jobs he has had. He found Rimrock because he just lost his pilot's license and started driving a truck and wanted a job that would allow him to stay home. A unique fact about Mr. Spaulding is that he wrote a book! He is proud of his books and has another two on the way. Most of his books are about stuff he likes, like flying. Mr. Spaulding is a very interesting guy!
Student Spotlight: Andres Juarez
By: Carmela Bazan, Erick Flores and Anahi Delgado
Andres Juarez was born on June 11, 1999 in Mountain Home. His whole life he has been growing up in Bruneau, Idaho. Andres says, “It’s really hard to keep up with everything but I always try my best.” Teachers have been noticing he has been improving greatly on his school work. Andres is very intelligent and his knowledge is widespread. Andres is a kind and a caring person. He is always very respectful to his teachers and classmates.
Community Spotlight: Kathy Chick
By: Taylor Magers and Makayla Davis
Mrs. Kathy Chick is a fun, involved and happy person. Kathy has been in our community since August 1989. She has 8 children! She used to be our librarian at the public library, but is now working at the Senior Center. “I love cooking and talking to the kids,” she said. She has played in a big role in people’s lives, even though she doesn’t know it! She has made a lot of kids, including ourselves, get involved in reading.
We asked Kathy if she still enjoyed working with children, and her response was, “I do. I teach a class in Mountain Home, Idaho of 24 LDS kids. They are awesome.” She is also involved in Boy Scouts! “I love being able to communicate and associate with the kids and help them in life,” she says.
Believe it or not, Kathy never wanted any kids growing up and she hated babysitting. Now Kathy has 8 children and she was our librarian and she has been engaged in a lot of children-full activities! She truly enjoys working with children and teens. We thank you, Mrs. Chick for everything you have done for the community!
Sports:
Junior High Boys Basketball
By: Elizabeth Varela, and Riatta Rutan
The Junior High boys had a great season this year. They played their hardest at every game they had. They enjoyed going on away games the most because they got out of class and got to be with there friends. They liked to go to other schools and represent for the Raiders, they went in with good sportsmanship and played their best.
We asked some of the basketball boys what their favorite part of the season was and they said.
"It was fun because I got to hang out with friends" - Aden Aquiso
"Going to away games" - Victor Lemus
"We tried our hardest." - Reagan Pearson
"Playing with my friends." - Pedro Varela
High School Boys Basketball
By: Journalism Staff
The high school boys basketball season has come and gone. The boys did great at all of their games and they tried and worked their hardest. The boys showed great showmanship, and they did well at representing our school. They had great teammates and they had built strong relationships with each other. Both the JV and Varsity boys learned a lot during their season.
"Our team had good sportsmanship." - Kevin Meyers
" It was a good experience." - Timothy Jewett
