Guest Preacher on Sunday: Jim Mustain
We will welcome Reverend Jim Mustain as our preacher on Sunday, February 3, at 8:30 and 11 a.m. His sermon—“Seeking God, Questions Welcomed!”—will be based on the premise that we’re all following something. Join us at 8:30 or 11 a.m. Jim is the founder and Executive Director of Loving Community, a faith-based, public charity. Previously, he led churches in roles ranging from Executive Pastor to Pastor of Community and Life Transformation. He and his wife, Sharon, have been a part of VRUMC for the past 4 1/2 years.

Church Staff Update
Nursery Supervisor—Christina Dixon
Christina has been hired as our new Nursery Supervisor. She will oversee the care of our youngest members, including recruiting, hiring, training, and scheduling child care workers and volunteers. Christina is originally from Florida, where she first discovered her love of working with children as a YMCA volunteer in local elementary and middle schools. After graduating high school, she was hired on as a site director at a local elementary school for the YMCA’s before-and-after school programs. During the summer, she was a camp counselor for first and second graders. After moving to Texas, Christina went to work for a telecommunications company, where she has been a full-time employee for the past 18 years. As Director of Customer Service and Field Support, she has been missing her love of working with children. She has loved the experience of helping to raise her 6-year-old twin grandsons and is thrilled to have the chance to bring her skills and love of children to the staff and young minds of VRUMC.
Interim Children’s Pastor—Martha Chiles
Martha will coordinate our children’s ministry and work with Children’s Council while Lisa Dominy is on maternity leave. Martha grew up in Wimberly, Texas, and moved to the Dallas area after college. She recently retired from teaching after 32 years and has been a member of Vista Ridge UMC since 2016. She enjoys traveling, baking, reading, and playing with her great nieces and nephew who live in the area. Martha lives in The Colony with her fur babies Bella, Levi, and Brady.
Interim Music Director—Brian Hardesty-Crouch
Brian has been reappointed to lead the 8:30 a.m. worship music, the choir, and Carillon chimers through April 30. He began serving in this role after the vacancy of the Music and Arts Director position last year. The Staff Parish Relations Committee will determine permanent staffing over the next few months based on the 2019 budget.
Prayer for North Texas Conference Delegates for General Conference
Pastor Mary Beth invites you to join her in praying throughout the month of February for the delegates from the North Texas Conference and for the bishop of the North Texas Conference, Mike McKee, as they prepare for the special General Conference to address the final report of the Commission on A Way Forward.
If you would be willing to pray daily and specifically for one of these delegates by name and write a note to that person, please sign up. Specifically, you can pray from 2:23-2:26 p.m. daily, as those are the dates of the conference - February 23-26. The note needs to be brought to the church by Sunday, February 17, to ensure delivery prior to the conference. Prayer resources can be found at umcprays.org, a website devoted specifically to prayer for this special General Conference.
