Hello from ACMA
Message from Principal Paige
Save The Date - Oct 29th Fall Fest
No School Friday 10/8
In an effort to minimize unnecessary interactions, we will not be conducting ACCESS and OHANA through the end of the first quarter, November 10th. We will reevaluate at that time.
- Monday, Wednesday are "B" Days. This means that students will have Period 2, 4, 6, 8 on these days.
- Tuesday and Thursday will be "A" Days with Periods 1, 3, 5, 7.
- NO SCHOOL, Friday October 8th. Staff Development Day
The following bell schedule will be used exclusively through November 10th.
Pause on Ohana & Access
While we know that both Ohana and Access are valuable as a place to connect with others, hold club meetings, and meet with teachers in non-class settings, with the pandemic still around us and the potential for increasing students’ close contact with other students not in their usual classes, it seems prudent at this time to hold off on Ohana and Access for the rest of the quarter. This will mean that our usual Monday, Tuesday, Friday bell schedule will be the bell schedule for every day through the first quarter. We will need to be creative about how we accomplish some of the things we do during Ohana and Access, but we are a creative school and I believe that we can successfully make this move with safety in mind.
I know that this will mean some adjustment for all of us, particularly our amazing counselors who do important work during Ohana, and our clubs who sometimes meet during Access, but I believe that it's the right decision to hold off on Ohana and Access for now. We will monitor what's happening and reassess things at the quarter; we will get back to having Ohana and Access at some point, but I agree with that insightful student's point of view that right now the benefit isn't worth the potential cost.
Purchase "The Distance Learning Yearbook" Now!
If you didn't purchase a 2020/2021 yearbook last year and would like to - good news! In the chaos of Covid, our publisher did not update our order request and as a result, we received more books than we sold in the spring.

The current 2021/2022 yearbook is also available for purchase too. This book will include events and school pictures from THIS school year. This cost is $60 and will be delivered before school is out in June (our usual yearly schedule).

Robotics Fundraiser Through BEF
This project is helping fund ACMA Robotics, First Tech Challenge team 14939. We are currently a group of 8 middle schoolers (with a coach) at ACMA who like to code and engineer but hope to grow the team up to 15 students from both the middle school and high school level. The 2021-2022 season will be our rookie season and we are all very excited to start the next school year with robotics.
ACMA is a school more focused on the arts, but there are students who also want to be involved in all of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math). This program will allow these students to pursue their interests in science and technology while also allowing students the opportunity to design and be creative. This program will help prepare students for life after high school by giving them skills to be college and career ready. FIRST is a nationally recognized robotics program, highly valued by tech driven companies and engineering schools. There are millions of dollars in scholarship money only available to students who have participated on a FIRST team.
Register Now for PSAT Test at ACMA
ACMA will be administering the PSAT/NMSQT at school on Wednesday, October 13. The test is primarily offered to juniors though we may have space available for some sophomores.
This test is a great opportunity for students to be able to take this during their school day and to practice for the SAT. Also, students who take the this PSAT/NMQST may also qualify for the National Merit Scholarship program.
Cost is $25. Payment guarantees registration. Visa, Master Card and Discovery can be used through the Payment Online System, cash or check through the Main Office.
If there is a financial need, some fee waivers may be available. Contact the bookkeeper in the main office for information.
Calling All Artists!
ACMA and ACMA PTO are beginning to plan for the 2021-22 ACMA Spectacular and we want to showcase your talent and need your help!
We are excited to bring this event back and showcasing as much of the amazing talents of our ACMA students as we can. As part of the Spectacular, we will be displaying art to sell, infusing it into the event and choosing 1-2 designs to use for print materials.
We would love any ideas and submissions! Be as creative as you want. Since we are back in person, back at our home school all together and enjoying a fresh start, this year’s Spectacular theme is “new beginnings”.
All submissions are due by Monday, Nov. 1, 2021 at 5 p.m.Questions? Feel free to reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org
