Cadmium originally came from the Greek name "Kadmeia" and the Latin name "Cadmia". It was founded by Friedrich Stromeyer and Karl Samuel Leberecht Hermann in 1817. This metal cost about $6 for each 100 gram. It belongs in the Transition Metal family It's known to produce toxic effects on humans and to cause cancer. It's used in medicines to treat enlarged joints, scrofulous glands, and chilblains. Cadmium bromine is one of Cadmium's common compound.
