I Am Me Mentors Swim Instruction

Intimate swim program with unmatched quality of instruction!

A note from Michaela on Fall 2022 Term...

Hi Swim Families,

This summer, I Am Me Mentors Cooperative signed on at Kona Kai Swim & Racquet Club to ensure we have the students and pool space (including 84 degree water and lights) to work towards 7 days/week programming for the flexibility you’ve been craving! CHSRC will be undergoing locker room construction this Fall & Spring Term so we will not be able to teach there at this time (put your name on the interest list for us to return to CHSRC or backyard pools here). Please Add your input on our school-year schedule and 2023 schedule and summer camp offerings here! (email for $10 lesson credit for completion, if desired). Please read the below "FYI" details carefully!

Thanks for a great Summer Swim Institute and we are thrilled with how the start of Fall 2022 Term has gone!

  2. To purchase as many Community Donation Drive Drop-In passes as you'd like, click here! (Total quantity for all families is limited to 100, so act fast!)

  4. Add your non-member and/or credit card use pass/es to your cart for each student by going to the "Passes" tab or toggle to “bank account” to avoid credit card use fee

About our Community Donation Drive:
We've donated 100 discounted (to encourage participation!) passes with proceeds going to a community fund organized by I Am Me Mentors Cooperative for Looms of Liberation Community House (LOL), a house for those with intersecting marginalized identities. This community fund will not only support an emergency fund for LOL residents, but the majority of proceeds will additionally support asylum seekers and trans community members of color as they seek stable housing, medical and legal aid! We encourage you to send an optional additional 100% donation of any amount that won't be subject to business taxes, facility fees and instructor pay: paypal loomsofliberation@gmail.com (make sure to choose "friends and family" at checkout)! All I Am Me Mentors Cooperative Community Donation Drive proceeds will offer a matching fund for LOL's crowdfunding campaign that will double your contribution!

Terms and Use:
All donation drive passes expire 12/21/22! Passes must be scheduled in advance, within 24 hours of purchase, in order to get a refund if classes are full. Message Michaela at the number below for real-time availability during purchase or visit the browse classes tab below. To schedule your lesson, go to "my account" "students" "passes" "punch-in"!

Our school-year programming offers some unique highlights that families have found great value in, compared to our summer programming…

Included in school-year group clinic tuition:

  • Virtual progress summary meetings (limited availability), where students and instructors can review progress, set goals, and collaboratively create implementation plans

  • Progress evaluations for each student (emailed out at the end of each term)

  • Open houses:

    • Curriculum deep dive for students and families

    • Q & A

    • Awards for aptitude and skill mastery (which parents have reported as highly motivating for their swimmers)

School-year programming offered:

  • Group swim clinics for every age and skill level (see what makes them unique from neighboring swim schools’ group lessons by clicking here)

    • Including parent and toddler (9 months - 5 years) and adult clinics!

  • Private and semi-private lessons

  • Conditioning classes

  • Finswimming & mermaiding classes

Updated pricing & make-ups model:

  1. Private lessons: The vast majority of student-breakthroughs since the founding of our program have occurred within our unique objectives-based group clinics, which are planned and implemented by talented and experienced educational professionals. Instead of offering private slots to those that can pay the equivalent of a full group slot (as with many neighboring swim schools), we offer them to those in most need at an accessible cost. Individuals with access needs that require one-on-one instruction can email michaela@iammementors.com with an explanation of why you believe your swimmer/s are not a good fit for our group clinic program (private slots aren't active on iClassPro). Weekly private/semi-private lesson slots are limited to 1 per household. For students who require extra attention as an accommodation, but otherwise thrive in the group environment, we may limit their group size cap from 4 to 3 on a case by case basis, per instructor discretion.

  2. Non-Kona-Kai-Members: please navigate to the "Passes" tab of iClassPro and add a $200 non-member pass for each student to your cart. This will allow you to gain entry to the facility for your lessons all term (8/27-12/23).

  3. Credit-Card-Users: please navigate to the "Passes" tab of iClassPro and add a $30 credit-card use pass for each student to your cart. This will allow you to use credit card for your lessons all term (8/27-12/23). For the free alternate, toggle over to "bank account" every time you checkout to enter your e-check information (bank # and routing #).

  4. Saving Payment on File: payment on file is required as of Sept 2022 in order to overcome large issues with our accounting. It will not be used if you pay up front for tuition and buy your own non-member & credit card use passes! If used, we will notify you at least 72 hours in advance, giving you a chance to pay your bill on your own if you choose to do so. iClassPro has the highest privacy ratings available. PCI Compliance Article and PCI Compliance Level 1 Defined

  5. Payment frequency: "Term" registration is paid up front as a weekly slot for Fall Term (please email me w/ the subject line “Fall 2022 Payment Plan Request” if you need installments (auto-pay required; no interest/fees). "Drop-ins" are $15 more per lesson, unless you beat others to our $50 community donation drive passes and need to be scheduled in advance (see description under pass).

  6. Make-ups (SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY): students can request 1 time slot transfer, as well as 1 make-up token per term (Fall/Spring) to utilize for any reason (no fees), and up to 12 per year including “excused absences” and site closures (if a student has hit their 12 max and there are additional site closures, they will receive additional passes for those site closures). Go to “My Account” “Students” “Makeups” to use them. In order to accommodate this added flexibility requested by families, we’ve had to add to our policies that we can (and will try not to) raise the class enrollment cap to 5 to accommodate make-ups, as needed and pending lane space approval & group dynamic needs, as determined by the instructor. Students must be enrolled in a regular class for the current term to use their make-ups. Summer Term 2022 make-ups expire at the end of the Fall Term and Fall/Spring make-ups expire at the end of Spring Term 2023.

    1. Excused absences include: COVID-19 symptoms/exposure, sickness, & injury.

    2. Site closures include: instructor illness or exposure (when no sub is available), weather below 50 degrees, consistent heavy rain or winds above 10mph, or unhealthy air quality.

    3. If you would like more flexibility than what is offered above, ask for a nomination to our Referral Program to help sustain our program amidst the otherwise program-threatening instability caused by re-scheduling!

  7. Group clinic sizes: 4 max 12U & 6 max 13+. Check out what’s unique about our group clinic model and what students are saying! This summer, we actually had students ask to transfer from low-enrollment groups to higher enrollment groups for the added benefits!

  8. Pre-teens: you can request to join a group slightly outside your age-range on a case-by-case basis, but your pricing & group size will be consistent with the class title.
