Twin Peaks Middle School
Weekly RAM Newsletter
A Brief Note from Dr. Burke
Dear RAM families,
This week's newsletter is filled with so many events, activities and special things to celebrate. We hope you will take the time to enjoy the pictures and videos below. I think they do a nice job capturing some of the positive aspects of our school culture. For example, we had several students enter the PTA Reflections art contest this year and several of them earned awards. Allie Reese's video on her mother's struggle with bi-polar disorder is particularly impressive and will be moving on to represent the state of California at the national level. I also want to acknowledge the students in Mrs. Bernardy's Art Exploratory. They researched various decades and created works of art to reflect pop culture during those time periods. Their artwork was used to decorate the walls of our gym for Friday's highly successful Spring Dance hosted by Twin Peaks ASB. Many thanks to the parents and staff who help chaperone the dance and donate snacks. We are proud of our Rams!
Please be sure to make note of the important dates as we finish the last week of quarter three and consider participating in our restaurant fundraiser this Tuesday. On Thursday, please stop by the book fair for Family Night in the Library before heading to the Band Concert in the MPR at 7pm. We hope to see you then.
That's it for now. We look forward to seeing all our students tomorrow, and remember, it's a 1/3/5 day.
Sincerely,
Dr. Burke

ADL Walk Against Hate
This year, Twin Peaks has partnered with the Anti-Defamation League in San Diego to work towards becoming a school where hate is not tolerated. The No Place For Hate committee has held a school-wide signing of the Resolution of Respect and have also discussed with their peers, “Slurs, Offensive Jokes, and how to address them”, in their first activity. The committee is currently working on the second activity addressing culture and identity.
In San Diego, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) are celebrating their 2nd annual Walk Against Hate which brings the entire community together to promote diversity. Thousands of students, parents, business leaders and community members will walk with one another to highlight the values of respect and inclusion. We would love to show our RAM P.R.I.D.E. by joining other San Diego schools and the ADL on their Walk Against Hate.
