Jaguar Journal Vol. 12
November 4, 2022
Hello Merrill Families,
Happy Friday, Merrill #FAMILY!
We are off to a fantastic start in Quarter 2. Please enjoy this virtual celebration for Quarter 1 here (approximately 20 minutes) and be sure to check your student's grades in Parent Portal.
NoSoNovember Challenge (No Social Media November). This week in Advisement, we learned about the average time tween and teenagers spend on social media. We also learned about the strong correlation with mental health. Please be informed and support your student in either setting limits, or joining the challenge. Here is a copy of our lesson HERE.
Our last Meow Wolf Field Trip for 8th grade is happening on November 14th and 15th. We need just a few more chaperones. If you have an 8th grader, and can join us, please sign-up HERE.
Our school play, Villain School is happening NEXT WEEKEND. Purchase tickets HERE.
Have a FABULOUS weekend.

SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES
DiMarzio is Raising Some Dough by Selling Butter Braids. Help the Band Out!
It is that time of year again, band is fundraising for new instruments and music, and all the other miscellany that make instrumental programs expensive to run. You may already have kids asking you to buy butter braids and coffee, and here is a link to my online store, if you'd rather pay online. Thanks for your support! We are taking orders until Nov 16th, and product will be delivered December 7th.
South is Hosting a Showcase for 8th Grade Students
South will be hosting an 8th showcase night on November 9th from 6-8 PM. Doors will open at 5:30 PM. Parents and students will be able to meet South teachers, counselors, administrators, and students, ask questions, and tour the building.
STUFFIES FOR STEAM CLASS!
Hello Merrill! The STEAM Lab is in need of stuffed animals that can be donated for use in their 3D printing unit. Students will be developing prosthetic parts for these animals. The stuffed animals will need to be donated permanently as we will be creating amputee prototypes.
8th Grade Language Arts Field Trip Fundraising!!!!
Our 8th grade students will be reading To Kill A Mockingbird, and the touring Broadway production will be here performing To Kill A Mockingbird at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts in February. Each ticket costs $40. Please log on to your MySchoolBucks account and select 8th grade Language Arts Field Trip, and if you can sponsor a student in need, we would appreciate it! We are writing grants as well to hopefully raise enough for all 8th graders to have this incredible experience. Here’s a video preview of the tour
We have been working so hard on to get ready for our performance. Please come see our final product and the production of Villain School, presented by Merrill Theatre.
