Have Only Positive Expectations
Okay...Because you are such hard workers...let's do it again! Rock your JEANS again on this MONDAY!
The vision of GCS is to inspire success and a lifetime of learning.
Way to go GCS for sharing your 50th Anniversary with McAdenville and others!
On Saturday afternoon six of our lovey fourth graders accompanied me in the GCS 50th anniversary parade downtown Gastonia. Bhadra, Carter, Cohen, Rosa, Vanessa, Christian were all superstars! The parade will be shown in the near future on channel 21.
Also featured in the parade on other floats were Mrs. Crosby and Mrs. Coffey. The students and I were able to wave to them as they off boarded their bus on Saturday. Thank you, Mrs. Shore, for cheering hello with such excitement and enthusiasm as we rode by.

BETTER YOU
Take Time To Watch
This week lets focus on ourselves. . .
Apple made the same commercial that I was working on as a motivational video for you. Thank you, Apple for saving me so much production time and cost.
Teachers we work hard because there is always "a better you" I won't stop you from finding it(yourself), because it forces me to find the better me...and whenever possible we, me and you should build that same type of drive and instill the belief of becoming better in your kids. When we get there we will not have to dread Data Meetings or Instructional PDs or whatever it is that gets under our skin and takes us to those dark corners of education some days. We can in most cases see the light, and smell the roses...but we are not motivated enough to get up and go! I actually got a rush from seeing that getting going is only our beginning. Ready...Set...Go...Let's discover what's waiting on us!

Instructional Focus
Instructional Focus/Concentration:
Building The Foundation Professional Development. The sessions will be offered throughout the school year.
Instructional Focus/Concentration:
Engagement and Worksheets
How often are you using worksheets for instruction and homework each day? How can we reduce the number of worksheets used during the school day?
Teacher - Student relationships
How can we change the tone of how we address students? It’s not what you say sometimes it’s how you say it. Model what they expect. The modeling sessions may have to be repeated a number of times, but model the expectations (Behavior and Instruction) with grace and respect for the student.
Agenda and I Can Statements - Daily Expectations
