Character Trait of the Month: Sportsmanship
Definition:
Fair play, respect for opponents, and polite behavior by someone who is competing in a sport or other competition
All about sportsmanship
This is a great website that I've found which has videos of athlete mentors who speak about sportsmanship and fair play. I will be sharing some of these videos with grade 3-5 students during town meeting this month.

Own Your Actions
In the 3rd quarter, some of Salem students will be receiving a SPOTlight medal for "Own Your Actions" category. Please celebrate with your child when you see a medal along with a certificate because they have been demonstrating integrity and responsibility over their actions.
Is it Tattling?
K-2 students review the difference between tattling and reporting to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills in various situations. Here are some questions that you can ask yourself before you report it to an adult.
Lesson on Compassion
Compassion was the monthly character trait for February. 2nd graders made their own giving tree with examples of how to show compassion to others.
