Bullying Stinks! October is National Bullying Prevention Month.

Students in grades 3-5 have been learning about conflicts during Guidance lessons. Knowing the difference between conflicts and bullying helps students resolve issues when they occur.

Types of Conflicts and Tips when Resolving the Conflicts:

1. Disagreements- Two or more people have different ideas about something. When you work together to resolve and listen to each other no one’s feelings are hurt.

2. Rude Moments-Hurting someone’s body or feelings on accident. Apologize and talk with one another to resolve hurt feelings.

3. Mean Moments-Hurting someone’s body or feelings on purpose. Happens one time or every once in awhile. Tell the person to stop, walk away, play with someone else, or talk about your feelings but always remember who you are and what is true. Do not let another person’s mean comments or actions change you.

4. Bullying-Hurting someone’s body or feelings on purpose. Happens over and over again and the bully wants power or control. Bullying can be physical, verbal or emotional. Always get help tell a teacher or staff member what is happening so they can help you and make sure you feel safe and comfortable.
