Who is Ayn Rand?

Rand was a writer. She was born on February 2, 1905 in Saint Petersburg, Russian Empire. She died on March 6, 1982 in New York, New York. And shes Jewish.

Somethings About Her Life

She was born and educated in Russia. She was the oldest out of three sisters. She went to college in Russia at the University of Petrograd. She started to write screenplays at eight years old and novels at ten. She decided at nine that writing fiction stories would be her career. She was very interested in politics and supported republican ideals.


She left Russia to come to America. First, she was in New York in February 1926. Next, she was in Chicago with her family for six months. Then, she went to Hollywood so she could become a screenwriter. She met her future husband in Hollywood. She was an extra and script reader. While he was an actor. They were married until he died which was fifty years after their marriage.

Her Philosophy

Her personal philosophy is objectivism.

Ayn Rand philosophy was for people to be selfish.


I agree with her philosophy. I think theres nothing wrong with being a little selfish. All humans are. Some more than others. Were made to be selfish unless your a mother or a father. Other than that all humans are mainly worried about themselves and theres nothing wrong with that. I want to go to a good college. What if I go to Oxford College, its in England. I could be consider selfish because I'm not worried about my family missing me, I want a good education so I'm going to go to a good school no matter where its at.

  1. Her real name isn't Ayn Rand, is Alissa Zinov'yevna Rosenbaum. She changed it when she came to America.
  2. Allegedly, her husband was very quiet and would startled her while she was working. So she made him wear a bell.
  3. She was a atheist. She was raised Jewish but didn't connect with the religion.
