Principal's News
Welcome back to Term 3!
We pray that our families have been able to enjoy a well deserved break. A special welcome to all of the new students and their families joining our College this term.
For the first three weeks of term, Mrs Evans, our Deputy Principal is on secondment, in the role of Acting Principal, Good Shepherd Lutheran College, Hamilton. We wish Mrs Evans every blessing in this role and look forward to her return in Week 4.
Mrs Lina Kadziela remains on leave and Mrs Sheryl Pettanui will continue to fill in for Mrs Kadziela at this time.
We also, very excitedly, welcome a number of new staff this term -
Ms Jessie Cooper - Office Manager / Campus Administrator
Mrs Claire Thorpe - Secondary Teacher replacing Mrs Cooper
Ms Breannon Sanford - Primary / Secondary Teacher
Ms Jenna Chisari - Primary Teacher
We hope and pray that this term will be a little more settled for our staff and students with less illness but are so very grateful to have Ms Sanford and Ms Chisari to assist us with College relief lessons.

To celebrate this exciting event, all students and staff are invited to dress up for the day in their best 80's outfits! We will celebrate with a giant birthday cake and some party games!
Later this year, we will hold an official, week long celebrating our Foundation Week (October 21 - October 28) with lots of opportunities for our community to come together and celebrate Trinity Lutheran College.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Primary interviews will be held in the primary classrooms.
Secondary interviews will be held in Sunset Hall.
We thank our families for connecting with us as we partner to work together on the education of all students at our College.
Maisie Update
Maisie is now 22 weeks old and has grown so much that she needed a bigger bed. During the holidays she enjoyed another visit to school and went for walks along the river. She also had her first appointment with a Groomer and came out looking like quite a different puppy. Like most puppies she enjoys playing chase with her favourite toys and exploring interesting things like the vacuum cleaner and her reflection in mirrors.
Everyone in our school community is excited to help Maisie settle into her special role as our wellbeing dog. Her first job is to learn to relax and feel safe, this may take a few weeks. Students have been learning about the three expectations that will help Maisie to achieve this and soon she will be able to spend lots of time in classrooms and other areas of the school.
As Maisie begins to spend more time at school it is important that we are aware of any concerns around individual students and interactions with Maisie, for e.g. a child may feel wary of being around a dog. Please feel free to complete the Family Consideration Checklist at the link below if there is anything that you feel is important we know about your child/ren so that we can ensure the program is as inclusive as possible.
Building Update
We welcome students back to our Hattah block this term to our brand new Year 5/6 classrooms and Secondary Science Lab's! Work has now begun on our final stage of refurbishment, our Hawthorn Building (Year 3/4), Library and Staffroom.
These state of the art, contemporary learning spaces have been designed with consideration to optimum auditory, sensory and natural light settings for our learners.

Household contacts are able to attend school, but must wear a mask and test negative on a RA Test each morning before attending school for the 7 days period of their family member's positive case.

A SPECIAL REPORT: Celebrating NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It is celebrated by all Australians and is a great opportunity to recognise and learn more about the history and culture of indigenous communities.
NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Its origins can be traced back to the Aboriginal rights movement, when on Australia Day 1938, protestors marched through the streets of Sydney to highlight the status and treatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. Today, it is a week-long celebration held in July that consists of range of traditional and contemporary activities.
NAIDOC Week is an important event that helps build positive relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people. It enables a deeper understanding of our differences and similarities. NAIDOC week is an opportunity for all Australians to eliminate bias and discrimination by reflecting and reconciling the wrongs of the past to facilitate hope and build a fairer future. Families are encouraged to join in and support young people in learning the significance of NAIDOC Week.
This Special Report offers suggestions on how families can celebrate NAIDOC Week together.
We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this Special Report, and as always, we welcome your feedback.
If you do have any concerns about the wellbeing of your child, please contact the school for further information or seek medical or professional help.
