From the Principal's Desk...
I will put my laws in their hearts
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This past Sunday we had a wonderful Open House. Our Open House Committee which has continued to be chaired by Jenny Kahny did a great job of preparing and publicizing our event. We had scheduled tour times, and all of our time slots were filled. We also had a few walk ins. Our parent and student tour guides were outstanding. I want to thank everyone for their support.
As we continue with our celebration of Catholic Schools Week, we have focused on a different theme for each day. We have also been collecting donations for the Pregnancy Center West.
Thank you to those who have made donations to this important work.
I have been involved in Catholic education for the better part of 40 years. I have found this critical work to be my personal Mission. The power, efficacy and critical influence of a Catholic education cannot and should not be underestimated. I know very well the challenge and sacrifice that is required of families to continue to provide a Catholic education for their children. Please know that we appreciate your sacrifice and commitment. Years from now your children will know how important this has been for them.
The regular opportunity to pray and worship together; the focus on learning to be of service to others, and the incredible value of viewing all subjects through the lens of Faith are all elements of a Catholic education. St. John the Baptist School is not a perfect place, but it is a Graced place. This Grace comes to us through Jesus Christ. In this morning’s first reading (Heb. 10:11-18), St. Paul reminds us of the words of the prophet. “This is the covenant I will establish with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them upon their minds,”
May this Catholic Schools Week remind us all of the great gift of a Catholic education. May we recognize and teach our daughters and sons how blessed they are by this gift. As we celebrate this week, we experience and deepen our understanding of and our commitment to God’s Covenant with us. May we rejoice when the Lord tells us I will put my laws in their hearts.
Peace,
Dan Minelli
