Tax Credit Information
What is it?
Arizona law provides a tax credit for contributions to public schools to support extracurricular activities or character education. You can help Paradise School students and possibly lower your tax bill by making a donation. The state tax credit is available to all qualifying individual
Arizona state taxpayers.
This is a FULL refund not a deduction. This money is donated directly to the school, not the state or the district. You write the check to DCES!
Who can donate?
ANYONE who pays Arizona state taxes! Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins and FRIENDS. What does it cost me? Upfront you will pay UP TO either $200 or $400, however you receive that ALL back! Married Couple $400 Married Filing Separately $200 EACH Single $200
Where does the money go?
DIRECTLY into the teachers or schools hands to be spent in the school! This money will be spent on YOUR child. Some teachers use it for field trips, DC Reads (a program helping students with reading), character education, etc.
When you file your STATE taxes, if you owe (lets say) $800, you fill in line xx and deduct the amount you donated,(if single $200) you then owe $600! This needs to be filled in correctly – what line etc.
Last year we had $1800 donated to a Kindergarten class and we were able to pay an additional DC Reads program for all of Kindergarten.
All TC expenditures are reviewed by our School Council and approved in advance.
