Harmony DC PCS cancels in-person learning (12/20/2021-12/22/2021)

Dear Parents and Guardians, 12/18/2021

We are reaching out to let you know that the school building will be closed for in-person learning Monday through Wednesday of next week (12/20-12/22) due to the multiple COVID-19 cases in our building this past week. We will resume in-person learning on January 3, 2022.

The safety of our students, staff, and visitors is and always will be our top priority. We have been conducting weekly COVID-19 tests since September and tested 10-20% of students and staff every week. Masks are mandated for everyone, and classes and common areas are sanitized more frequently. We’ve placed air purifiers in all classes and common areas. Our staff checked the temperature and symptoms of all students and staff daily.

Since the beginning of the school year, we have had a few COVID-19 cases and required a few students to quarantine based on the guidance we received from DC Health. However, DC area COVID-19 cases have tripled within the last 2 weeks. Unfortunately, we also have seen multiple cases within the last 7 days in our school. We have contacted all close contacts and provided further guidance. If you were not contacted so far, that means your child was not identified as a close contact.

Due to several students and staff being out of school and a high COVID-19 positivity rate in the District, it’s in the best interest of our community to move to asynchronous learning effective Monday, December 20, 2021. The school building will be closed for in-person learning on Monday through Wednesday of next week. We will resume in-person learning on January 3, 2022.

We will prepare work packages for our students and make them available online, you can click here to access the files. If you want a printed copy, parents can also pick up the packages from the school on Monday between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.

We understand many of you are still working full-time jobs and that we do not expect you to take on the additional role of educator. Your children should be able to complete most of the activities and read independently.

We cannot thank you enough for your support as we all work through this public health issue. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
