Planning for 2023 2024 !!

One of the ESU #3 ELC PD Grant requirements is to ask partners - child care centers, community agencies, FCCH providers, out of school time programs, Planning Region Teams, professional organizations, school districts - to contribute to the development of the grant continuation proposal by sharing ideas to assist with professional development planning.

There will be two opportunities to share your valuable input with us:

  • The week of March 6, the 2023 2024 ESU #3 ELC PD Grant input survey will be sent via email. The survey will need to be completed no later than Friday, March 17.
  • On Tuesday, March 14, educators, providers, and partners are invited to the 2023 2024 ESU #3 ELC PD Grant strategic planning sessions. For more information, click on the image to the left.

We all know that children do not learn the exact same skills at the exact same time. However, as a quality child care provider, you also recognize when a child is not developing skills as expected for their age. The good news is you don’t just have to watch and worry.

The Early Development Network (EDN) provides services to children birth through two years of age in all Nebraska School Districts. A concerned parent can contact their local school district to receive a free developmental evaluation to help them determine if their child is delayed in developing skills. When a child is eligible for EDN services, trained professionals will help families (and you) know the best way to help their child grow and learn.

All Nebraska school districts are obligated to provide services beginning at birth for children who meet eligibility criteria and demonstrate a need for early intervention. To make a referral, use the school district contact numbers below:

Coach Resources March 2023

This month we are sharing more about the role and purpose of the five Coach Consultants across Nebraska. Our collective purpose is to develop and cultivate growth in coaches who work with early childhood educators to improve access to quality care and education for all young children and their families. To learn more about how we do this, take a look at the ELC-Coach Consultant Role and Purpose page.

It is so important for us to “remember my why” and stay grounded in purpose so that each educator gets what they need from coaches and in turn, each child and family gets what they need from educators. What is your “why?” What is your purpose? Here is a tool that we have found to be very helpful in reflecting on many coaching practices and the purpose of the work – Developing a Coaching Vision and Mission Statement.

Please let me know if you take a minute to use this tool to reflect on – I would love to chat with you about it! please reach out to me at bmorton@esu3.org
