Principal's Perspective
We've had a fun week building up excitement for our annual fundraiser! Our Rock-a-Thon is Wednesday next week! Please send your child in tennis shoes and attire that is weather appropriate as we'll spend lots of time outdoors on Wednesday for the walking/obstacle course portion and the dunk tank. Speaking of dunk tank...Mr. P has 100+ dunks and I have over 40 at this time! Keep it up!!
Here is the link the fundraising page so you can share with others and share your child's unique link with family and friends.
Have a great weekend and check out our spirit days for next week!
In partnership,
Mary Beth RileyCounselor's Corner
Dear families,
This year I will continue to offer small skill-based groups for our students. Group counseling is an excellent way for children to learn new skills, develop self-confidence, become more aware of others’ views, practice new behaviors, and better understand how to deal with problems life presents. Groups will be based on skills that have been identified as a need, such as coping skills for anxiety, friendship skills, resilience, and regulation.
The first group I will offer is called F.I.S.H. for K-4 students who are coping with Families In Separate Homes. This group is geared towards students whose families have recently gone through a separation or divorce. We will discuss feelings related to family changes as well as connecting with others who have had similar experiences. The groups will run for 6-8 sessions, each lasting about 20 minutes during the school day at a time that works best for the teachers and students. If you would like your child(ren) to participate, please fill out this FISH Google Form by September 18th. Fill out one form per child.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Thank you,
Nicole Newman

A Note from the Nurse
Head Lice is a common community problem and infestations peak from September to February. It is the parent’s prime responsibility of assisting in the prevention and management of head lice by regularly checking your child’s head for lice if they are showing signs of head lice such as tickling on the scalp, itching, irritability, difficulty sleeping and sores on the head (from scratching). While head lice are a nuisance, it is not a health issue and does not spread disease.
For information on how to identify head lice, when to seek treatment and general information about head lice, please see the Maple Glen website under parents and nurses clinic.
If you suspect your child has head lice contact your health care provider for treatment options and let the school nurse know if you are treating a case concerning your child. All information is confidential between the school nurse, parent and child. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to give me a call.

Lunch Visitors
Starting Monday, September 19, 2022, we are opening up the opportunity for family members to join their child/children for lunch! For student safety and to accommodate our limited cafeteria seating, we are allowing our families to visit once a trimester. To be prepared for our guests and to check the Safe Visitor Registration of incoming visitors (this is required for every visitor) please make sure you register 24 hours in advance.
We allow 5 visitors per grade level lunch. Please use one slot per person signing up. Due to limited space, visitors will be sitting with their child(ren) at their classroom tables. You have the option of bringing in a home packed lunch or purchasing a lunch at school. No fast food will be allowed at this time. Lunch menus can be found here. The price for an adult lunch is $4.70.
