- Students are to sign up in advance to ensure adequate supervision. Only students on the game day list will be eligible to attend.
- Students have a designated student section to cheer on Buffett athletes.
- Students are to wear their lanyards throughout the game.
- Students must provide their own transportation and are to be picked up by 4:45 PM to ensure all students get home safely.
- Students will receive a confirmation email after they sign up.

Student-Led Conferences
Student-Led Conferences are coming up on Oct. 13 and 14. Please be on the lookout for signing up for a conference time by the week of Sept. 27.
Omaha Public Schools encourages middle schools to utilize a student-led approach for conferences. Two powerful reasons to implement student-led conferences are:
- To encourage students to take responsibility and ownership for their learning by involving them in the goal-setting and assessment process.
- To engage families in richer, more transparent conversations about student progress.
When you attend student-led conferences, you can expect to be led through your student's reflection on their progress in each class by your student. They will be building a Powerpoint presentation to go through with you. Teachers will be available to answer any questions you have after you go through that process with your student as needed.
We look forward to seeing you and providing you support through this process. Please look to future Buffett Bulletins for more information as the conference dates approach.
Congratulations to Buffett's Student Council Representatives!

High Five Highlight
This section of the bulletin will highlight one story featuring Buffett Bobcats staying true to these values.
From the Cross Country Meet at Lewis and Clark
At the end of the boys' race, a Beveridge runner was well behind everyone else, almost a half mile behind the next closest finisher. A couple of Beveridge runners came up to encourage him the last quarter mile, but then two Buffett runners (Vanessa F. and Karsen C.) swooped in and really cheered him on. They bordered him, jogged by his side the rest of the way and really lit a fire underneath him to finish strong. He was smiling the last 100 yards, despite being in a bit of physical anguish.
This highlights the culture Cross Country creates in our student-athletes. It shows its spirit of competition, fair play, and comradery. But this example goes so far above and beyond that. It reflects who they are as people, which matters the most.
Vanessa and Karsen were shining examples of how to Be Kind at the Lewis & Clark Cross Country Meet!
Code of Conduct: Access Parent Portal
Parent Portal is a great way to keep up on your child's grades at school. If you do not have a parent login, please email Darci.Watkins@ops.org to register.
Also, students have access to their grades! They check them weekly in Bobcat Den. Have your child pull up their grades from Infinite Campus right on their iPads and talk through them together.
Access the Code of Conduct here.

Happy National Security Officer Appreciation Week
Officer Hall
Officer Hall joined the Air Force and served 8 years. He worked on humanitarian and civil engineering projects in Panama, Germany, Korea, and Honduras. After the military, Officer Hall joined the Omaha Police Department. He started as a street officer, but spent the majority of his career working the nightshift as a Regional Investigator.
Officer Hall raised a daughter and now enjoys seeing his two granddaughters grow up. He retire from OPD after 20 years and now serves us as our SRO at Buffett. He enjoys seeing that one kid excel, especially when he has anything to do to help push them in the right direction. It makes it all worth it.
Officer Rydberg
In 2002, right after graduation, Officer Rydberg enlisted in active duty with the Army. He served 8 years in the Army and deployed to Iraq. He even agreed to stay behind to help the next unit get setup before returning home from his tour. After the military, Officer Rydberg began his career in security. He worked in many different types of security, but landed here at Buffett as our security officer.
Officer Rydberg is a proud father of two children, ages 3 and almost 2. His wife works as an Orchestra Director in Omaha Public Schools.
Officer Rydberg likes getting to the know the students here at Buffett. He likes seeing them grow as they go from grades 5-8.
Sergeant Curry
Sergeant Curry began his career in corrections after leaving active duty. In 1989 he moved to Omaha, Nebraska and began working for Douglas County Corrections. This career in corrections spanned 30 years until he came to Buffett as our security guard.
Sergeant Curry was blessed with five children, including one set of twin boys. He has a 17-year-old and a middle schooler still at home, both attend school in Bennington. Sergeant Curry says it's all about trust when it comes to working with and raising children. You need to trust them to do what they are supposed to do and they need to trust you to help them get there.
